DeLay: "I have been charged for defeating Democrats"
In a press conference right now. Accusing Ronnie Earle of manufacturing law to get rid of him since his political opponents couldn't. He's not taking questions from the press.

1. No, Tom, you've been charged for being a dick
Oh - and for money laundering and conspiracy charges, as well.

7. My rep was one of the ones he worked to defeat. I was involved
in the process, and saw exactly what he did. It was wrong, and it was illegal, and judging from the extreme steps DeLay and Texas Association of Business (a partner in his crime) went through to hide what they were doing, there's no doubt DeLay knew he was breaking the law and was covering it up as he went along.

His crimes aren't against the Democrats. THey are against every voter in the 22 districts he cheated in, because we were all denied a fair, legal election.

12. Prime personality trait of sociopaths
They claim they are innocent of their crimes, they take no responsibility for their actions, and they claim to be victims of persecution.

You belong in prison, DeLay. You will get to associate with your kind.

3. Why should he stop lying now?
Or is he really either that stupid or that deeply in denial?

4. Ruh roh, he's just screwed up
He used the media to spew his rhetoric, but refused to take questions from them.

They won't be allowing him to have a free soapbox any more since he won't take their questions.

He just screwed the pooch.

5. No, you've been charged with defeating _democracy_.
Tough distinction these days, I know, but try to wrap your crooked head around it.

9. Does the judge that will be deciding if THIS judge should
step down have a chance of deciding that this judge should remain? I just hope the case can be kept in this area and not moved to Dallas/Fort Worth where the jury would be stacked in Delay's favor!!

13. Recusals are tricky
But I don't think being a Democrat or donating to Democrat campaigns or causes is by itself sufficient reason to recuse.

25. MoveOn
Apparently the complaint is that the judge donated to MoveOn which sells Delay Mugshot T-Shirts, etc, not merely that the judge is a Democrat.

18. Not if I wind up on the jury...
I'll be fair. I'll be objective. But I won't be DeLay's bitch on the bench. That much is certain.

10. No....
You have been put in jail for breaking the rule of law. Remember that phrase from the late 1990's?? You guys were very fond of it at the time.

The methods you have used to gain power and "defeat" the Democrats just makes you an arrogant, self-aggrandizing, narrow-minded, a**hole.

He can't be a man and take his punishment. He's so evil he thinks everything he does is fine.

16. No, you asshole, using corporate money in Texas elections is ILLEGAL!!!
The people of Texas know you're a swindler and a crook, and now it's your turn to pay the piper.

19. No, Tommyboy. You're being charged with money laundering, you asshole
It was against the law. You figured out a way to circumvent the law. You shook down a bunch of corporations, including Sears. You laundered the money to get your boys elected.

I am personally going to donate Viagra to whatever jail you get sent to.

20. Delay Just Doesn't Get It
He is in trouble because he is a criminal, not because he defeated the Democrats. I hope the rest of this sorry bunch goes down, too. It goes beyond political parties with me. They are destroying my country. They have to go.

That combination of arrogance and whininess is just so damn attractive.
