Chavez warns U.S. against invasion
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Thursday that his government is preparing for a possible U.S. invasion, and he warned that such "aggression" would send gasoline prices in the United States soaring.

I knew it would be only a matter of time before this guy did something even more patently demagoguish (if that's even a word). The U.S. is to Chavez as Iraq is to Bush*; he's manufacturing a threat to his own benefit. And no, just because I don't like this stuff doesn't mean I am against poor people in Venezuela any more than people who didn't think we should fight a war in Iraq are siding with the terrorists. Doesn't work that way. So can we put the kibosh on the Chavez personality cult for a while?

Also curious is why moderate Democrats are under fire because a few of them break party lines every so often on a few controversial issues, while Chavez is given carte blanche to use Bush* tactics on his own people. Why look the other way for one and not the other?

1. Oh Gawd...
Hugo's a good guy if you happen to be a Venezuelan, but no one ever accused him of being understated :eyes:
