Cafferty file: Can things get any worse for the Republican Party?
That's Jack's question of the hour at 4:00.

He listed Rove and Scooter
DeLay
Frist
Miers
FEMA
Iraq
Shrub's rating
The deficits

Then asked "can it get any worse?

Send Jack YOUR response! I am.

12. It is about to.
When Fitz releases his indictments.
When Abramoff blows wide open.
When we pass 2,000 dead soldiers in Iraq.
When Frist is indicted.
When DeLay is convicted.
When Bush is impeached.

2. Done!
I said I was sure things would continue to get worse as their acts of misfeasance are revealed through all the indictments and investigations -- no thanks to the complicit news media.

4. How about that 8 trillion dollar deficit. How is it possible to do it
in 5 years. Especially when you started with a surplus. Good Grief, Jacks list is awful, but we knew that all along. I think he missed a few. Brown and FEMA are 2 issues, Bolton, terra alerts backfiring, world opinion down the tubes, possible pandemic for which there is no real vaccine(bet he'll find his own supply of Tamiflu for the regular flu--and we will be short a few million doses.) How many more screw-ups can you list?

18. That's Why I Call This Administration The Duck Soup Posse
That's one of the reasons I call this mal-administration the Duck Soup Posse. Buckaroo Bush's actions have a horrible resemblance to those of Groucho Marx's Rufus T. Firefly's actions in the classic film comedy Duck Soup. Like Groucho/Firefly, Buckaroo Bush beat the drums for war. Like Groucho/Firefly Buckaroo Bush tolerated a foreign spy element in his country in the way this administration coddles and covers up for the Saudis. Like Groucho/Firefly, Buckaroo Bush triumphantly says "Help is coming!" which hardly seems to be the case in Iraq.

Of course, Groucho/Firefly had a more honest approach to government. Who could not see Groucho singing and dancing "If you think we're (the imaginary country of Fredonia) bad off now / Just wait 'til I get through with it!..."

Duck Soup comes to a comedic end, and we can click the END button and take the disc out of our DVD players. Unfortunately for us, we're stuck with Buckaroo Bush in real life and Mrs. Tisdale is NOT going to bail us out of our difficulties.

5. Of course it could get worse.
You could see convictions in some, pray all, of these cases with a full compliment of indictments.

11. I'm Hoping That Norquist Wasn't Minding His Legal P's and Q's. n/t
Wouldn't it be interesting if prosecutors found that right-wing organizer Grover Norquist didn't keep his little nose as squeaky clean as he likes the rest of us to think and that there would be solid ground for criminal indictment?

This may not come to pass, but hey, we can dream, can't we?

7. Doesn't matter they are in power and they wield it-
and if people like them it's nicer , but public opinion stops nothing.

In another thread I just learned we have already been in Syria fighting...they don't care, they went ahead and did it.

Yes, they can!

Here's a party that has had practically ALL the power the last 5 years and a huge bit of it before then, dating all the way back to 1994. The misfortunes of the GOP are ones of their own design and making. They are not being afflicted with a series of misfortunate accidents.

This is not your father's Republican Party. This GOP believes in high deficits, crushing debt, unwise foreign adventures that turn into quagmires, welfare for corporations (though not for average Americans) and routine abuse of power and definitely NOT the rule of law.

Until this New GOP is out of power, it deserves all the misfortunes that it brings upon itself. Sadly, it is bring a hell of lot of misfortune on the rest of us, too.

14. I decided to send him a flippant one. I could write a tome but I kept it
light.

Of course things can get worse for the Republican Party and especially for this Administration. If VP Cheney is indicted in regard to the Plame investigation and has to resign, President Bush might choose Harriet Miers to become Vice President because the bar won't have to be set as high as it has to be for Supreme Court Justice.

15. Here's mine
Jack,

About the only way I could see things gettting any worse at all for the Republcians would be if Cheney ended up getting indicted in the Plame probe.

Either that, or Dubya himself being named an unindicted co-conspirator.
