Why does Bush need Card at Camp David this weekend?
Made Andy cancel an appearance! http://www.projo.com/news/content/projo_20051021_card21.1d652b66.html

Bush's chief of staff Card cancels R.I. appearance for GOP

01:00 AM EDT on Friday, October 21, 2005

PROVIDENCE -- A Rhode Island Republican Party fundraiser scheduled for tonight featuring Andrew H. Card, White House chief of staff, has been canceled because Card is spending the weekend with President Bush at the presidential retreat at Camp David, Patricia Morgan, Republican state chairwoman, said yesterday.

Morgan said the state GOP will reschedule the party fundraiser but that it probably will not take place until 2006. The event was to have been held at the Sheraton Providence Airport Hotel on Post Road in Warwick.

"All we know is that the White House called and said he had to be with the president," Morgan said. "He needs to be at Camp David this weekend."

Morgan said she was given assurances that Card, a Massachusetts native and former Massachusetts state representative, would come to Rhode Island to help the GOP here at a future date.

1. Don't you mean "Captain" Card?
:sarcasm:

Remember the Mission Accomplished debacle, where * looked around for Captain Card?

2. I guess Rove is just a tad busy trying to devise a defense to
hold bush's hand so Andy has to step in as a surrogate. I bet he has to change bush's depends too and I suspect bush will be going through more than a few waiting for Fitz's move, lol.

3. Yep, Rove can't be *'s handler right now (and maybe never again?)
Card is becoming a handler at a bad time; * seems to be devolving pretty quickly, as per yesterday's news conference. It was a new low, even for Dimson.

6. This is actually very interesting
Why indeed? This appearance in RI has been planned for a while so the abrupt cancellation says something's up.

Some sort of summit of the yet-to-be-indicteds?

8. OR, "What the hell do we do now?"
Typically, the lawyers of those about to be indicted know in advance when to expect the announcements.

I wouldn't be surprised if Camp David is a BIG planning session to decide what to do, and how to publically handle this mess!

10. Rove has canceled appearances too
Are they circling the wagons? On what? Fallout from FEMA? Is Brownie invited? Planning on where to have the next few terrorist alerts? Rethinking (sorry I almost typed that without laughing) how to pimp Miers next? What's on the agenda and who is going to be there?

11. You got it
A summit of the yet-to-be-indicteds.

They've got to get their alibis straight.

That's why Fitzgerald gave them the weekend. So they can dig their own graves even deeper.

13. (1)Round the clock drunk watches;(2)Taking Rove's place;
(3)Laura refuses to be responsible for W for the whole weekend.

Whatever goes on/down at Camp David this weekend would make a hell of a Shakespearean tragedy. Act I - Friday night; Act II - late Saturday afternoon; Act III Sunday morning. The ghost of Karl Rove would be skulking around as the narrator.

Wonder who else will make the scene. Is Condi "in country" as they used to say in Nam? I'm surprised W hasn't called Karen Hughes back from her overseas tour. If she had any true feelings of friendship for W, she' d be at his side helping him "strategerize" how to carry on without Cheney & Rove.

What's really significant is that the GOP couldn't get some other high level Bush flunky to fill in for Card. When Rove pulled a slew of cancellations, substitutes were always provided. Evidently none of the Band of Bastards has the cojones to appear in public this weekend. There might be reporters around, you know, and lately, they've taken to asking real questions!

If they start passing out Nike tennis shoes, we'll know that the mothership will be calling them soon. And the rest of us will be 'LEFT BEHIND' to clean up their mess. :sarcasm:

I wonder if they have a code red procedure for just such critical occassions as a mass indictment or other significant threat to their little cult, that would be the catalyst for creating the circumstances for launching a shadow government. Cornered animals are dangerous beasts.
Well, if reality wasn't stranger than fiction these days, I'd say this might at least make a good movie plot.
