screwing America's poor and dispossessed for Iraq....
Edited on Fri Oct-21-05 04:46 PM by mike_c
I'm utterly amazed by congressional attempts to "rein in spending" in America, e.g. cutting funds for Medicaid, PBS, and lowballing the costs of disaster relief in the Gulf states. Isn't this the same congress that shipped cash by the cargo-planeload to Baghdad so the CPA could urge contractors to show up with duffel bags and haul it all away? The same congress that has fire-hosed Iraq with 202 billion dollars (http://nationalpriorities.org/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=182 ) for which not one single objective-- other than capturing Saddam Hussein-- has been achieved? Billions have been squandered, billions have been stolen, and billions are simply "lost."

What supreme hypocrisy! We can't even define the problems in Iraq, let alone articulate rational solutions, yet we pour money on the flames there like crazy. At the same time we discuss gutting programs designed to address known needs in America-- often programs that have proven effective-- and ALWAYS at the expense of our neediest citizens. GODDAMN THIS PISSES ME OFF!
