Will RW play the Race Card if Grand Jury Indicts(Over 75% are AfricanAmer)
Lawrence O' Donnell has a great point in his post at Huffington. Got me wondering if Limpballs, Hannity, O' Reilly, etc., will pull out this card ala OJ if this Grand Jury chooses to indict. What do you all think?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/lawrence-odonnell/up-to-the-grand-jury_b_9288.html

Will Fitzgerald issue indictments? Washington and cable news care about nothing else these days. The answer is: No, he won’t. The most Fitzgerald will do is ask his grand jury to issue indictments. It’s really all up to them. Which raises the question: who are they? A federal grand jury has 23 members.

A typical Washington, D.C. grand jury is about 75% African American. Fitzgerald’s is slightly more than that. This is not the kind of group Karl Rove feels at home with. He has no professional experience trying to appeal to a group like this. He has been so unsuccessful at it that his boss’s job approval rating with African Americans is now 2%, which, factoring in the margin of error, could actually be zero. To make matters statistically and demographically much worse for Rove and Scooter Libby, only 12 of the 23 grand jurors have to agree to indict them.

There is already a good deal of pundit anguish being spent over how unfair it would be if indictments only cover little things like lying to FBI agents or perjury, violations that today’s New York Times calls “peripheral to the issue” Fitzgerald was appointed to investigate. Federal grand juries are constantly issuing indictments that are peripheral to the issue they were impaneled to consider. The question Rove and Libby are asking themselves today is: Does this seem like the kind of grand jury that is going to think lying to an FBI agent or perjury is a serious crime--unless you work in the White House? I think they know the answer.

2. Even tho only 2% of Blacks approve of BushCo
I would think that a grand jury is a grand jury. And this is not about race at all...

As a grand jury, they have pledged to uphold the law and give their unbiased opinion based on the facts of the case. They will do what they feel and THINK they need to do no matter what idiot or genius is sitting in the box.

3. They will do whatever it takes
to make it appear to be political and partisan, such as "criminalization of politics."

But like a good sex scandal (blow job in the Oval Office), a spy scandal hits a note with the general public. The average Joe relates to Agent 007 and undercover spies as super heroes.

An American "007's" cover and network was purposely exposed by the * Administration and this will PLAY well in Peoria.

This is a simple truth that the American People will understand.

4. Maybe. And the idea that a mostly black GJ will indict
these bastards is as satisfying as hell.

5. I think a jury of 23 people will be very fair and not think of race.
To accuse them of thinking of race is racist unless there is some independent evidence suggesting that members of the grand jury considered the suspects' race. Some very crude people may try to play the racist card, but I don't think they will win many friends with it. The evidence is either there or it isn't. As Janet Reno used to say, "the law and the facts." That is what this is about. Nothing else. The standard for issuing an indictment is not normally that high, but, as I understand it, Fitzgerald is meticulous as well as pretty fair.

8. Would you say the same thing if it was 23 Koolaid Drinkers?
I think this Grand Jury will be fair which is why I think they will hand down indictments. This is a group of people who's judgement hasn't been clouded by their ideology to a party and a man.

I'm curious though if the talking heads especially on the RW side will dare to play the race card.

I think there's poetic justice here.

This African American can't wait until they indict them all.

I would believe that a GJ in Washington DC,would be extrenely high class and very pissed off that they have NEVER been allowed to vote.

Do your duty my Sisters and Brothers and others on the GJ.

Show the WORLD what justice is all about.

10. It's not like they have anything to lose with their 2% rating
Can't get much worse than a 2% approval rating among blacks, can they?

16. Set of assumptions?
They left a bunch of middle class and working poor African Americans to die because they didn't give a shit--

I don't think there are any assumptions there...furthermore the bastards are still hiding the real death toll.

21. They are going to play it
it's their only defense.

But, the Grand Jury has to have be sequestered for about 2 years now right?
They may not know all the Katrina details, though they must know about the hurricane itself. Surely, even if they weren't sequestered, they would *have* to be once the aftermath of Katrina revealed itself.

It would be too influencing.

I think the indictments won't have anything to do with the recent tensions between Bush and blacks, but I fear the aftermath though.

When the RW starts their attacks(and they will) they will be aggravating an already open and festering wound.

It's not just the aftermath of Katrina now, it's how the racists have used this as a "coming out party", stoking the unconcious prejuidices that whites in this country already have.

Too many have underestimated the level of anger or worse, don't even understand what there is to be angry about.
That's just the kind of ignorance that is as good as kindling for this situation.

Maybe someone will be smart and advise these guys NOT to light this fire, but they are desperate and if it gets lit, there will be HELL to pay this time.

They start, and all it's going to take is one more white cop brutalizing a black man or kid, and it's over. Innocents will get hurt.

And all because nobody BUT blacks are taking these insults and provocations seriously enough to act against them NOW while there's still time.
