14. They never say what the lie is.
Edited on Fri Oct-21-05 07:25 PM by higher class
Did he lie when he said -

. the CIA wanted to send someone to Niger?
. someone in the CIA asked Valerie Wilson if her husband would consider it?
. Valerie walked into the exploratory meeting with Wilson and introduced him?
. he had been Ambassador to one or two of the neighboring countries to Niger - the countries that have yellowcake?
. that he knew key people there and the surrounding countries?
. that he speaks fluent French, the language spoken in the countries with the yellowcake?
. that he was acting in an Ambassadorial role in Iraq when Hussein could not be talked out of attaching Kuwait?
. that GHW Bush praised his work in negotiating with Hussein?
. that he therefore knew the countries and issues of the mission?
. that he worked pro bono, but was paid expenses?
. that he wasn't a scientist, but that a person can know enough to research buying, selling, meetings in regard to the acquisition of yellowcake.
. that he wrote a report?
. that he was debriefed?

These are the issues that I remember him saying on public airwaves.

Where is the lie (with exceptions for my memory)?

The CIA would not support the allegation that Hussein/Iraq bought yellowcake. The regime ignored the data and lied to the citizens, their leaders in Washington, the UN, the world.

Who're ya gonna believe? Morgan or Wilson? Toensing or Wilson? DeGenova or Wilson? Robertson or Wilson?

Or are you going to believe WHIG, Bolton, George or Dick?

15. Charlie Black tried that too
I have to give it up for Matthews tonight. That was a thing of beauty. First Charlie Black goes on and on about Wilson's lies, that Cheney had sent him to Africa and some other supposed lie. Chris shot that down and even clarified it at the break. Black also says there's no PR campaign coming out of the White House. Matthews READS the PR on THE AIR!! And it's nothing but smear. lol.

Then, Morgan gets up there and repeats the EXACT SAME THING as Black. But there's no PR campaign, lol. And gets shot down when she tries to say that Valerie Plame outed herself. Maybe what's happening to Judith Miller is making these other reporters remember the word accomplice.

It was great. It would be nice if the Democrats learned how to stay focused though. I do not know why Amy Goodman chose that program to launch into the march on DC. We haven't won the PR wars yet.

21. It's not right
I don't know how to break it to you, but Wilson did say he was sent to Africa because of Cheney. Matthews said it was true, that Black was wrong by calling him a liar on it. Then it goes to the segment with Morgan, when she starts in with the exact same TP's as Black. And he called her on some of those too. It was a great show. Everything doesn't have to be screaming and yelling for points to be made. Sometimes people making fools of themselves is better. They laughed at the White House talking points, ON THE AIR, in front of Charlie Black. It was a great show.

24. going to Africa because of cheney is the lynchpin of the whole RW lie
of course Wilson admits that, but he DID go there because of Cheney, just indirectly

Cheney's office...meaning CHENEY....wanted another investo into the Niger story

like I said, I'll tape, and see if I got it that wrong

20. When the segment was over
He clearly said Wilson had not lied about being sent to Africa by Cheney, that he was sent because of an inquiry out of Cheney's office. Cheney may not have known that's why he went, but that's why he went. He made a point of saying that separate from the segment, he did the same thing with Morgan.

He didn't bring anything up, Black called Wilson a liar and Matthews asked about it. Black ended up looking like a fool, especially after Chris read the talking points on the air.

He didn't stand on the table and scream chickenhawk, maybe that's the problem.

23. welllll, what I think he said was that both Wilson and Cheney were
at crosspoints about who sent him, and that Cheney didn't know Wilson went, which is TOTAL BS, and I think he knows that.

Cheney and Libby micromanaged that whole trip, in a last ditch effort to counter the other two reports debunking the Niger story

they were hoping Wilson, who they thought was on the team at the time, would provide evidence they could use to bolster their claim

see john nichols' interview with Wilson on this

28. I deal in facts
I'm kind of funny that way. There are times when I speculate, but I know it and call it when I'm doing it.

The facts, as we know them right now, are that Wilson was sent because of an inquiry by Cheney's office. Wilson wasn't specifically sent by Cheney, he's never said he was, that's a right wing distortion. But he believed Cheney eventually knew that somebody was sent and that Cheney had gotten the information. Cheney, the human being, says he didn't know anybody was sent. Whether it's BS or not, we don't have any proof of. Facts.

So you can think what you want, but reporters are supposed to deal with facts. I don't want a bunch of Judith Millers, whether they're agreeing with me or not. Even though that's what we've got.

16. A while back ago I didn't know who Melanie Morgan was...
but then one day I was watching some interview show on CNN or Faux and some complete idiot moran was spouting off b.s. lie after b.s. lie until I was so pissed off that I wanted to reach through the television and shove the microphone so far into her ear that it came out her bum. Unable to do that, I made a mental note of her name - Melanie Morgan - and I vowed to never subject my ears to such vile filth ever again.

25. have I told you how much I HATE these people?
1990, Morgan resigned at KGO and moved to Seattle where her husband, Jack Swanson, had taken a job as General Manager for King AM & FM. While in Seattle, according to a report that aired in May 2000 on CBS News, she became addicted to gambling. "I felt totally comfortable behind a poker table," she told interviewer Troy Roberts. "I could just get high off the cards. ... On the credit cards, I probably ran up $ 25,000. ... And that doesn't count the cash that I was going through either." The gambling continued after she became pregnant, "I ended up going into labor early," she said. "Of course, I was in a terrible environment, smoke-filled room, hardly taking care of myself. Yeah, I was gambling right up until an hour before I gave birth." After her son was born, her gambling obsession led her to neglect the child, requiring an informal intervention by Child Protective Services. After counseling and sessions with Gamblers Anonymous, she says she was able to stop gambling in 1992, and in 1999 she became president of the California Council on Problem Gambling. She has not placed a bet in 13 years.

did you notice how often, btw, re: media matters, that she's been on nerfball?

and did you see how he introduced her at the beginning of the segment?

something about her being in Iraq recently, and caring more than most people about what's going on there?

really really sycophantic

I think he wants to introduce her to little tweety
