HURRICANE KATRINA SURVIVORS TO STORM CONGRESS TUESDAY
Last week, Campaign For America's Future asked for donations of just One Dollar to help victims of Hurricane Katrina take their message to Washington. They want to ask one simple question, “Are Washington politicians rebuilding the Gulf Coast for their wealthy friends, or the people of the Gulf?” They’ll get that chance on Tuesday, as a Congressional Roundtable has been scheduled to make sure America hears their voice, the voice that the Republican Congress is bent on ignoring.
WASHINGTON - Survivors of Hurricane Katrina will visit Capitol Hill Tuesday to warn senators and representatives against using hurricane relief efforts as an excuse to slash funding for social protections Gulf Coast residents desperately need. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., will host a forum with the survivors organized by the Campaign for America's Future and the new Emergency Campaign for America's Priorities as Congress debates the nation's budget.
