Latest RW Spin: "Was the Wilson Affair a CIA Plot?"

http://www.theconservativevoice.com/articles/article.html?id=9146

Was the Wilson Affair a CIA Plot?

The media version of the CIA leak case is that the White House illegally revealed a CIA employee's identity because her husband, Joseph Wilson, was an administration critic.
But former prosecutor Joseph E. diGenova says the real story is that the CIA "launched a covert operation" against the President when it sent Wilson on the mission to Africa to investigate the Iraq-uranium link. DiGenova, a former Independent Counsel who prosecuted several high-profile cases and has extensive experience on Capitol Hill, including as counsel to several Senate committees, is optimistic that Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald will figure it all out.

DiGenova tells this columnist, "It seems to me somewhat strange, in terms of CIA tradecraft, that if you were really attempting to protect the identity of a covert officer, why would you send her husband overseas on a mission, without a confidentiality agreement, and then allow him when he came back to the United States to write an op-ed piece in the New York Times about it."

That mission, he explained, leads naturally to the questions: Who is this guy? And how did he get this assignment? "That's not the way you protect the identity of a covert officer," he said. "If it is, then Porter Goss is doing the right thing in cleaning house" at the agency.

If the CIA is the real villain in the case, then almost everything we have been told about the scandal by the media is wrong. What's more, it means that the CIA, perhaps the most powerful intelligence agency in the U.S. Government, was deliberately trying to undermine the Bush Administration's Iraq War policy. The liberals who are anxious for indictments of Bush Administration officials in this case should start paying attention to this aspect of the scandal. They may be opposed to the Iraq War, but since when is the CIA allowed to run covert operations against an elected president of the U.S.?

The CIA has been commandeered, manipulated, ignored and generally jerked around by this administration.

Let's not forget that the OSP was a 'special shop', set up to bypass the analysts at Langley. Properly vetted intelligence was useless to Cheney & Co.

The CIA are experts at psy-ops designed to take governments down. Look at Greece, Iran (in the late '50's) and IRAQ during the early days and a little known Ba'ath party functionary called Saddam Hussein.

I'd like to know who is leaking all this damaging info that's making the WH so frantic.

And I'd like to shake their hand.

Or under Oath? Or play the Cover-up game? Nah, I ain't buying the story. And even if I did that doesn't let them off for their subsequent crimes.

Now, Karl, Scooter, and Co., just put on those orange jumpsuits and see can you smile bigger than the bug man did!

Absolutely ridiculous. WHY would his connection to his wife even come up in questioning the reason for sending him there? He was a diplomat who's very knowledgable about Iraq and various African nations.

This talking point, like the others, is a non-starter.

15. Joe DiGenova is a right-wing asshole, but I never thought he was so NUTS.
Apparently, he's gone off the deep over all this.

He really thinks the President was set up? It was the President who was so gung-ho on going to WAR and everything else follows from that.

19. I'm confident Fitz will figure it out too, Joe, and laugh himself silly if
he ever bothers to read or listen to your drivel.

And Joe, your logic just shows that Rove and Libby had to be in on the CIA's "plot" too. They played speed dial the media whores to get the story out there, to trigger a two year investigation all to make Bush and Cheney look bad. I mean, look, Libby has Miller meet him in his office in the Old Executive Building where she has to sign in, a couple weeks before Wilson's op ed was published. Ho, if that wasn't a set up and a "smoking gun" easily checked. And Rove talked to Novak, hell he had to know Novak would blab the minute someone waved a subpoena in his face. Libby and Rove, just two wild and crazy guys...who knew?

Oh and you forgot Joe, the State Dept was in on it too. The Ambassador to Niger had been crapping on the Niger claim long before Wilson got there. A four star General had also checked it out and laughed. So that's State, the US military and the CIA all conspiring with Rove and Libby to bring down their masters. Whoa, stop the presses, Joe, you got a best seller and a miniseries! Judy, another noted fabulist, may be just have some free time to serve as a technical advisor on your project too. Cool beans.

21. diGenova and his wifey-poo Victoria Toensing
were all over the media, for years, trashing Clinton during his administration. They're both miserable hacks.

This 'CIA is Bush's enemy' thing is about a week old; it's the new right-wing excuse. Not only the CIA, the right is fingering the State Department too. The Liberals, CIA and State Department are all out to get Bush. Quick!! Hide under your bed!!

Look how that fool Cliff Kincaid stated his premise; he classified Plame as a 'CIA employee.' Well, that's not the question at hand at all, is it? This is a dishonest tactic: base your argument on a false premise.

And diGenova is equally foolish. "..if you were really attempting to protect the identity of a covert officer, why would you send her husband overseas on a mission,.." This is total bullshit and makes no logical point at all except for deception and spin.

Hopefully, this administration is going down in disgrace. Hopefully diGenova and Toensing will go along for the ride. Phooie.

<That mission, he explained, leads naturally to the questions: Who is this guy? And how did he get this assignment? "That's not the way you protect the identity of a covert officer," he said.>

The RW acts as if Joe Wilson was a nobody, like the CIA would send any old agent's spouse on a fact finding trip... even if he was cashier at Burger King.

What idiots!

27. Cliff Kincaid is the author ... sensationalist-propagandist
not familiar with him, but googled to get an idea ...

he blogged on the ironically, but orwellian, titled "Accuracy in Media (AIM) - for fairness, balance, and accuracy in news reporting" ... he's an editor for the AIM Report ..

"As expected and predicted, the protesters got out of hand, tearing down barricades and inflicting damage on property" ...

~snip~

he quotes 'leftist' Will Pitt's protest blogging ... :D

"Leftist Will Pitt had some funny observations ..."

http://www.aim.org/cliff_blog

he linked this photo with the DC protest

I can't tell where that picture was taken ... but, no doubt, it's used for sensationalism.

If you click on his name at the OP's link, it'll list his other writings, including: "The Sleazy Clinton Legacy", which begins "The Washington Post ran a story on September 16 about oral sex being prevalent among teens..."

what a moran

he considers himself "President" of
http://www.usasurvival.org/ ... oh, I see ... so, he gets salary to free himself to promote his untruthful musings ... IOW he gets donations $$ as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization ...
"America's Survival, Inc., (ASI), an independent 501 (c) 3 non-profit, with an established track record on U.N.-related matters."

America's Survival. Inc.
8221 Frances Lane
Owings, MD 20736 -----> guessing that's his home address

He's a perfect example why I think the the IRS 501 codes need major overhaul. They should be for the truly charity only, not as this guy uses it. No wonder these people get to be here, there and yonder. They don't have real jobs.

This guy manufactures a product: propaganda. He gets paid for it.
He's part of the Republican Propaganda Machine as much as Rove or Gannongate.

His site boasts:

"ASI has received the thanks and recognition of President George W. Bush, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, and General Tommy Franks for its work to protect American soldiers and citizens from 'war crimes' prosecutions by the United Nations. Then-Senator John Ashcroft proclaimed: 'One of my greatest allies in this crucial work is Cliff Kincaid. For years, Cliff has publicly exposed the U.N.'s schemes to destroy America's independence and freedom'."

I hope Fitzgerald comes through, and it has shockwaves throughout their whole right-wing system and infrastructure.

Not a damned thing. They can't touch them. This is not one of their flimsy "intelligence failures." But we know that.
