War of the Words (Stem Cell Research) |
|
Many people call Stem Cell Research, "Embryonic Stem Cell Research".
This is untruthful.
When people picture an Embryo, they usually picture a little human.
It should be called "Blastular Stem Cell Research".
This is the stage when the cells are removed.
What's a blastula, you say?
It isn't human, that's for sure. It's not much more than a bundle of cells. A blastula has no organ systems (Such as a nervous system or a brain) and the number of cells it has is in the dozens.
We need to reframe this debate, and I think we can win some ground if we change this one word around.

1. True. Most people have no idea how primitive blastocysts really are. |

And if the Rs have their way, they will never find out!
