Question for Robert Bennet: What about Judy Miller is or was "heroic?"
A quote from Howard Kurtz's piece in today's post on the rift between Miller and the Times:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/10/21/AR2005102102037_2.html

"I am very concerned now that there are people trying to even old scores and undercut her as a heroic journalist."

Is it heroic for a journalist to get in bed with a corrupt, vindictive government, to lie to her editors, colleagues and readers? What has she ever done that was heroic?

1. Once again, it depends on whose ox is being gored.
Kurtz is a propagandist, and the fear of Goebbels' diciples is heavy on the land at the moment.

Obviously there's nothing remotely "heroic" about protecting the identity of source when that source is likely to be a conspirator. I'm waiting for the likes of Kurtz to call those that would protect the identity of conspirators co-conspirators.

I'm in for a long wait.
