Denial and fake optimism 'til the end....
Tom Delay so epitomizes the Republican Party. Smile and pretend it's all just a political game by your enemies. Deny there are any legal questions involved. Excuse all the charges as simply "politics". Most Republicans seem to mirror the mindset of Mr. Delay.

They will maintain this facade until one of them is led away in handcuffs, after the judge has pronounced his sentence. Only then will they escape the deep denial they have embraced in recent years. The fake smiles will morph into smirks and sneers once justice is served.

Right now, they believe this denial and fake optimism is the property of the Democrats. No doubt, many of us are optimistic that justice will be served. Because if it is not, Tom Delay may be the last person smiling in America.

and I promise to feel guilty someday, but try this. Plaster on big fake smile. Hold it as long as you can. Now think about how much your face would hurt if you had to do that all day long.

Something amazing happens...the smile becomes real....the pain goes away....it's magic!

2. I think his clever boy grin will become much more infamous than a
standard mugshot photo in the long run.

3. At some point the Republicans bought their own bull.....
Namely, that people in this country don't support conservatives because
we have all been lead astray by the Liberal Media, and if we could just
be innundated with a bunch of Conservative info, true or false, we would
wake up and realize we are actually Conservatives.

Neocons seem unable to grasp that many Americans do, in fact, have
non-conservative values for deep and well thought out reasons. They
think Americans are idiots to be manipulated by spin. I think that's another
case of projection on their part.
