OMFG A "FOCUS ON THE FAMILY "CD in my nephew's CHICK FIL A KIDS MEAL
Edited on Sat Oct-22-05 04:03 PM by Proud2BAmurkin
My sister and kids just left and lo and behold what do I find on the table next to the CHICK FIL A KIDS MEAL they ate?

A CD with this printed at the top:

"FOCUS ON THE FAMILY PRESENTS A SPECIAL CHICK FIL A EDITION OF ADVENTURES IN ODYSSEY"

There are four logos on the CD: Chick Fil A, Focus on the Family, "Digital Praise" and "4+"

I'd rather find a DEAD RAT in the bag than this crap.

1. Chick Fil A is a christian owned restaurant
They are actually closed on Sunday. They promote it.

No big surprise

36. Make the differentiation, please
I'm a Christian, and refuse to work on Sundays.

I've never promoted Dobson or his relio-political agenda.

Sometimes, God really is in the details.

That's the surprise for folks who LUMP me in with someone like Dobson.

Just another reason to avoid that crap anyway.

3. I'm not surprised
because that's the kind of folks they are: no better than mass marketing, Madison Avenue. I can hear their planning sessions now: "I have an idea, put the CD in Happy Meals!"

Geez. Low. Really, really low. And it denigrates Christianity to the same level as mini star wars people.

30. Why did the chick filet cross the road???
To get to the more impressionable minds.... can we put some of "our" brand of media on the benches at said establishment?? Or would that be breaking the roolez. I thought there was supposed to be a separation between church/state, church/business and that is why they get the tax free free $$. Something smells about this whole affair and I hope someone will take them to task on it.

48. Why the interest?
You're either a Fundagelical, you have a lot of unruly kids, or you have a really interesting love life.

I'm kinda guessing it would be the third explanation.

Carpal tunnel syndrome could also be a factor. With the right-wing's disdain of Big Gummint, I don't think the paddles would be very well designed from an ergonomic standpoint.

If Focus on the Fanny™'s stock is committed, I'm sure there are many trustworthy purveyors of fine disciplinary implements on the Internets. And Google will take you right to them.

24. I adore CFA but some of these "individuals" who own and operate...
some of the individuals owning and operating the stores are over the top.

Truett Cathy's not a bad man, and I'm fine with them being closed on Sunday, but I don't frequent certain CFA's...

One near me took to playing religious shit over the speakers... Hymns and shit.

I wrote the owner and said that I was personally deeply offended by the music and I do not to to CFA to be "converted", I go there to eat. I also informed him that my Jewish and Muslim friends (it's in the Dulles high-tech corridor) also agreed with me that it was offensive and that we would boycott all CFA's "owned and operated" by him from there on out.

I got an apology, coupons for free CFA's at that store, and they stopped playing the music.

The company is --okay--, not great. But I would write a letter of complaint and tell them you go there for the food, not to be "converted" and that you will boycott that and any other store whose owner/operator tries to aggresively push religious materials on you... Write them at the website. I think they might listen.

54. I think we need to boycott this. . .or at least start
notifying universities which house this restaurant. . .I haven't eaten at one for years because of their religious affiliation - this crap doesn't surprise me at all.

Like the rest of Americans, I go to a restaurant to eat - not be exposed to the likes of James Dobson, self-appointed "christian" predator.

Even though I think most malls won't respond, it wouldn't hurt to write the shopping centers where these are distributed.

These people threw a tantrum...an unmitigated tantrum about Starbuck's simply because the chain had ONE...ONE cup with a quotation from Armistead Maupin. They had them removed from certain stores...well, just the cups with a GAY author's quote. . .why the hell would ANYONE want to see James Dobson's obscenity even as a freebie with a meal?

38. Do they have showers in the stores that dads can take their son into?
You know, show them their penis so they don't become homosexual like Dobson urges?

'The boy's father has to do his part. He needs to mirror and affirm his son's maleness. He can play rough-and-tumble games with his son, in ways that are decidedly different from the games he would play with a little girl. He can help his son learn to throw and catch a ball. He can teach him to pound a square wooden peg into a square hole in a pegboard. He can even take his son with him into the shower, where the boy cannot help but notice that Dad has a penis, just like his, only bigger.''

Pretty impressive that so many at DU fail to grasp the connection between the far right and the fast food/junk food industry.

If ever there was a reason to "starve a beast," that would be it.

59. What state/area was this happening in?
You can PM me if you don't want freeper types to know.. I'd be interested in going after Dobson - we went after Limbaugh at Takebackthemedia.com and did a LOT of damage with the many folks that were outraged, so much so that I was on the O'Reilly show within weeks..

I'd like to get HONEST Christians to tell Dobson to SHUT THE FUCK UP.

What is with this, "show your penis to your son?" I think real christians would be appalled by that, I know I am and I'm a freakin Liberal.. if it happens then, well, it happens and THEN you get to explain - one time when we went swimming and were changing my youngest son (age 4 at the time) was pretty impressed, but I was mortified, all I needed was for him to mention it to my vicious ex wife and off we go to jail..

By this idiot's reasoning then MOMMY should take the boy in the shower and show him her goods to let him know the "difference" -- that would fly like a lead zepplin..

He needs to be busted, when you have assholes like this picking a Supreme Court Justice it's time to kick them in the ass..
