I've noticed a change in the Sherrod Brown ad on DU |

It now is for Act Blue, instead, which will direct donations to the winner of the primary.
Good on you, Sherrod Brown, and may the best candidate in Ohio win the primary!

I like Hackett, but I've never had a problem with Brown. Both are exceptional candidates and I'm convinced that, if the primary stays civil, the winner will be stronger for the healthy competition.

4. No, he's diverting money away from the primary contest, to his advantage. |

He had a $1.2 million campaign fund accumulated over the years in office, and just had another huge fund raiser. This new fund is designed to siphon off donations which might have been given to Hackett for the primary. and lock in Brown's financial advantage. If he can block Hackett's fund raising this early, he probably hopes Hackett will drop out of the race and then of course Brown wins the primary and gets every penny in that new fund. I'll grant you that it's clever.
I think you all are naive when it comes to the political fund-raising psyche. I mean, think about the fact that he's in what everyone describes as a safe Dem House seat, yet during his many years in office, has accumulated this $1.2 Million which he hasn't needed to spend to get re-elected. And he COULD have given that money to Dem candidates where it would have made a difference in a race. That's allowed and standard procedure, and how Dems get elected to leadership posts - by passing along their unneeded campaign contributions to their fellow House or Senate members. That also indicates that Brown was not interested in the extra work that goes with a leadership position. And guess what, there's a lot more work involved in being a Senator then in being a Congressman.
