WASHINGTON, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- White House allies are crafting a response to possible indictments in the CIA leak case.

Officials suggested Sunday they would attack any criminal charges as a disagreement over legal technicalities or the product of an overzealous prosecutor, the New York Times reported.

Special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald is expected to announce by the end of the week whether he will seek indictments against White House officials...

...The case -- tied to White House efforts to rebut criticism of its use of intelligence to justify the invasion of Iraq -- has the potential to shape the remainder of President Bush's second term, the newspaper said.
