3. Yes. Quite.
But Katrina didnt bear down on my mom and my brothers.

This one is, however.

Strength to all in her path.

4. Wow, NOAA sure nailed the storm track. Who was that guy who was
going to eat his hat if the storm turned eastward toward Florida? He should send some photos of him ingesting that hat.

5. See that little bump jutting out of the coast at the 9 O'Clock
Position from Lake Okeechobee? Fort Myers and Cape Coral. My Mom lives just north of there in Port Charlotte. My two brothers live in the Ft. Myers area dead in the bullseye, it appears.

9. My partner (of 24 years) was born in Port Charlotte, his mom's in Ft Myers
we talked to her a few hours ago...she's staying put, has a fairly new concrete block (very nice) house near Tice on the Orange river.

8. Just Talked To An Evacuee From San Marco Island
Looks like she and her family did the smart thing...called from Orlando this evening...traffic was heavy, but not Houston style. She said it had been raining since late Thursday and the winds were starting to really kick up and they were leaving. Her fear is the island is sea level and even a 5 foot storm surge will cause big problems. Also, this hits the cruise industry right at the start of it's big season...bad enough with this crappy economy.

That eye wall like it's starting to reform...yesterday afternoon it looked like the storm had been torn apart. Hopefully it's moving fast enough now that the impact is minimal and the worst of the storm stays south and over the straits.
