Isn't it 'flag abuse' to leave the US flag flying in a hurricane? |
|
Why not just take it down before the storm, fold it and re-fly it after the storm?

Especially since the flag flyer may lose power, and therefore not be able to illuminate the flag at night. Not to mention the damage the actual flag will take on in such winds.

In storms you are supposed to take it down. So say the flag code.

but, in my copyrighted role as "person who analyzes a witty/snarky comment WAY too much", outside of the flag worship in this country, i see no problem in letting a flag get beat up by wind/rain/whatever. all in all, a flag is a marker for what country/unit you're with. no one gets their panties in a twist when their license plates get muddy
and that, ladies and gentlemen, ends this useless "missed point" post

4. Yes, but the level of ignorance about flag care is staggering... |
|
...given the idolatrous level of flag worship in this country. I mean, a Constitutional amendment to protect the flag, for gods' sake, how stupid is that?
I thought the same when I saw how many people kept their 9-11 car flags flying long after they were faded tatters.

6. Absolutely. Faux patriots leave flags in weather, unlit at night. |
|
Absolutely. You can tell who are the faux patriots: they leave flags out in weather, or leave them unlit at night. They foam at the mouth about flag desecration, but are the ones most likely to have a tattered dirty flag flapping from their car.
True patriotism is not lazy.

|
http://www.legion.org/word/flagcode.docLooks to me like you can leave an all-weather flag up in all weather.
