Senior White House officials over the weekend warned President George W. Bush to “prepare for the worst” in the ever-deepening Valerie Plame scandal, laying out a scenario that includes indictments of top officials and detailing a direct involvement by the Administration in a concentrated effort to destroy the credibility of Ambassador Joseph Wilson and then conceal the actions from investigators.

Chief of Staff Andrew Card cancelled a weekend schedule of appearances and events to spend the weekend with Bush at Camp David and deliver the bad news personally, White House insiders tell Capitol Hill Blue.

With indictments expected against Lewis “Scooter” Libby, Vice President Richard Cheney’s chief of staff, and possibly White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove, Card told Bush that both will have to resign if the administration is to salvage any chance of recovering from the scandal.

“We’re hip deep in this and the sharks are circling,” Card told the President.

According to multiple White House sources, Card laid out a detailed scenario of White House involvement in a staff-directed campaign to destroy administration critic Wilson. That scenario includes:

....if * is the "president", and the "leader" of the party etc etc. shouldn't he KNOW that the shit is hitting the fan and how involved he actually is???
I get how out of touch this moran is, but seriously..."Senior White House officials over the weekend warned President George W. Bush to “prepare for the worst” in the ever-deepening Valerie Plame scandal"

21. NYDN Now Doing A Story That Many Here. . .
. . .said the same thing about, a month or so ago. Thompson was right then, Will. I'm not sticking up for CHB. But, when the MSM starts taking the same story and running with it, that lends credibility to the first source, and on the "only Card can talk to him" and "junior staffers fear his anger" story, it appears they were correct.

41. Normally, I'd agree.
But it's been well-reported that the mood at the WH is very bad and that things are not going well. This is not outlandish like some other things we've seen from CHB. It's not an original story anyway.

13. Bartlett distracted?
Maybe Bartlett didn't have time to create a Plamegate DVD, as he did for Katrina.

President Bush knew the storm and its consequences had been bad; but he didn't quite realize how bad.

The reality, say several aides who did not wish to be quoted because it might displease the president, did not really sink in until Thursday night. Some White House staffers were watching the evening news and thought the president needed to see the horrific reports coming out of New Orleans. Counselor Bartlett made up a DVD of the newscasts so Bush could see them in their entirety as he flew down to the Gulf Coast the next morning on Air Force One.

How this could be—how the president of the United States could have even less "situational awareness," as they say in the military, than the average American about the worst natural disaster in a century—is one of the more perplexing and troubling chapters in a story that, despite moments of heroism and acts of great generosity, ranks as a national disgrace.

Raise hands---how many of you saw on numerous media outlets the whores saying things like "someone needs to come forward and tell Bush how bad this is and how he will have to clean house, blah, blah". I mean I've seen it from the real flaming mouthpieces to some pretty decent analysts. And all the time I raged inside--goddamnit as though he is AGAIN this babe of innocence not being served well by big, bad men. Fucking bullshit. He's part of it all like he's part of every dirty piece of shit floating around this regime. Even at times like this, the media still goes into "protect the boy" mode. Unfortunately, if Fitz indicts the whole goddamn repuke government, the media will still paint him as the noble prince let down by his servants.

was it on the CHB staff of sublime comedy writers that was Standing RIGHT NEXT to CARD and BUSH to overhear the "We're hip deep in this and the sharks are circling"...?

If they have that kind of access or bugging devices or video planted all over the White House I imagine they'd have MUCH better stories than this to tell..

These guys are amazing, they are the reason that we actually had to "print a retraction" at Takebackthemedia.com and run away from them as a news source..

But they got a lot of other sites with that same story as I recall..

Total bullshit.
