As CIA leak probe winds up, White House "following developments"

WHITE HOUSE As the C-I-A leak probe heads toward a conclusion, the White House says it's "following developments" -- but concentrating on other matters.
Press Secretary Scott McClellan says that means keeping its "energies focused" on things the administration "can do something about."

As he spoke, President Bush was convening a Cabinet meeting with an agenda topped by hurricanes Wilma and Katrina, and the war on terror.

With his grand jury's term due to expire on Friday, special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald could seek indictments shortly. He's probing leaks that blew the cover of a C-I-A operative whose husband was an administration critic on Iraq.

Deputy White House Chief of Staff Karl Rove and Vice President Cheney's chief of staff, Scooter Libby, have emerged as key figures in the probe. The White House says both are at their desks today.

The End
