Hurricanes converging?
Here's the track of Hurricane Wilma:

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/storm_graphics/AT24/refresh/AL2405W_sm2+gif/150628W_sm.gif

Here's the track of Tropical Depression Alpha:

Looks like both are coverging on 35N 70W on Tuesday morning.

Anyone know what this is going to do?

9. Damn, that is likely. Sorry.
Any other year, the New England flooding would be a big story.

14. I wish it'd make up its mind.
Are we going to get tropical storms, or is the gulf stream going to shut down and freeze everyone?

On second thought, maybe I'll take the hurricane.

15. We could probably do with it
Yeah, I know we've had a lot in the past few days, but this is from the Met Office site:

Nine out of the last 11 months, have had below average rainfall across England & Wales.

And their updated winter forecast:

Our predictions continue to indicate a colder than average winter for much of Europe. If this holds true, parts of the UK — especially southern regions — are expected to have temperatures below normal.

There is also an indication for a drier-than-average winter over much of the UK.

http://www.met-office.gov.uk/research/seasonal/monthly_forecasts/headline.html

Anyway, I've seen claims that Cambridge is the driest city in Britain. What have you got to complain about? :P

12. Timing is everything - but the huge low coming down from Canada -1992
Edited on Mon Oct-24-05 10:55 AM by papau
Perfect Storm (called a Northeaster) is a real possibility.

Alpha moisture will be picked up by Wilma - and the Canadian low - all by itself - will give us a small Northeaster Tuesday afternoon.
