OMG! Drudge cries, 'Franken orders Execution to Bush & co.!"
Drudge has taken a quotes AL Franken made on David Letterman's show out of context, as ususual! Al meant it as a joke & Drudge is now building on it! My God, these people are terrified of Air America, Al Franken, etc.!

1. Al has also proposed a constitutional amendment
to prevent execution of a sitting President and VP.

8. Yes
I wouldn't be surprised if Cheney is indicted if that happens.

4. I would like to go on record as favoring execution.
While the statement of Al Franken was made in jest, the penalty for treason is well established.

5. wasn't it Rush who said liberals have no sense of humor?
ANYONE who actually saw the show & heard AL KNEW it was a joke. ANYONE! Even if you despise Franken with all your heart, you HAVE to know he was joking. Drudge knows it but is just trying to stir the pot, nothing more. Slow news day, lets try to discredit AL before his new book comes out, etc.I emailed Drudge telling him he has sold an extra couple thousand books for Al by posting what he knew was nothing more than a joke.

6. If Drudge actually watched the interview
he would know that Franken said he was against the death penalty and thought that it wouldn't be right to excute anyone. :eyes:

15. Exactly. Al said he *wouldn't be* in favor of execution
even if it was treason.

He said, jokingly, maybe we should pass an Amendment to the Constitution saying we can't execute a sitting president.

Dave said, "Have we ever come close to executing a sitting a president?"

Al said, "I believe this is the closest we've come."

12. That treason is punished by execution but that Al WOULDN'T be
Edited on Mon Oct-24-05 12:33 PM by Lex
in favor of executing a sitting President.

The audience laughed and so did Letterman and Al--because it seemed absurd.

But really it isn't.

Isn't treason punishable by execution?

Actually he said Rove or Scotter should be executed. But he clarified that Bush shouldn't. You'd have to seen it, it was funny and the audience thought so. I love Al.

17. Crooks and Liars has his segment on Letterman.
Al Franken with David Letterman

Al joined Letterman Friday night to promote his book and talk a little politics.

Video-WMP low res Bittorrent-Hi Res WMP

Video-QT

His tag line joke was that since Rove committed treason by outing a C.I.A, agent, he might be shot. Do you think some of the right wingers will take this out of context?

Franken: "George H. W. Bush, the president's father, was the head of the CIA, and he has said that outing a CIA agent is treason.

So basically, what it looks like is going to happen, is that Libby and Karl Rove are going to be executed.

Yes, and I don't know how I feel about it because I'm basically against the death penalty."
