Did Scowcroft's piece come out today?
I thought that was being published today, did I miss it or am I confused about the date?

1. It's in the New Yorker, written by Jeffrey Goldberg
UPI has a pithy summary:

Scowcroft: "You encourage democracy over time, with assistance, and
aid, the traditional way. Not how the neocons do it.... How do the
neocons bring democracy to Iraq? You invade, you threaten and
pressure, you evangelize."

" wasn't really a threat. His Army was weak, and the country
hadn't recovered from sanctions."

Scowcroft said he fined with Condi "just when Sharon said he was going
to pull out of Gaza," at the end of 2003. "She said, 'At least there's
some good news,' and I said, 'That's terrible news.' She said, 'What do
you mean?' And I said that for Sharon this is not the first move, this
is the last move. He's getting out of Gaza because he can't sustain
eight thousand settlers with half his Army protecting them. Then, when
he's out, he will have an Israel that he can control and a Palestinian
state atomized enough that it can't be a problem." Scowcroft added, "We
had a terrible fight on that."

4. FYI: UPI and Washington Times are both owned by the Moonies
You might want to find a better source.

5. UPI and Washington Times are owned by Moon
I know. I read somewhere recently (and I'm sorry I can't remember
where) comments to the effect that UPI's independence from the editorial
guidance you'd expect from Moon is very surprising.

6. They've been trying to distance themselves from Moon's image for a while
I know I have a long 1997 Washington Monthly article that speaks glowingly of the Moonie Times. To be fair, Washington Monthly had some criticisms of the Moonie Times too. However, I can not bring myself to consider anything involved with Moon as having any legitimacy. I consider it as slightly more credible than your average tabloid. Useful as a jumping off ground for further research but I would never quote it as a primary source.

My primary reason in pointing out the ownership of the UPI and the Washington Times is to make sure people realize the potential bias behind what they're reading. Many people still do not understand that the Washington Times was created by Moon back in 1982 or that he purchased UPI in 1990 (if I recall correctly).
