did anyone hear that last caller on Randi? |
|
That woman who was dissing Code Pink and Medea Benjamin re: Cindy Sheehan's criticisms of the Dems?
I'm sensing a concerted effort to discredit Cindy and those who support her. First I saw it here on DU and then I heard it from this caller five minutes ago...
discuss...

1. The way Freepers talk about Cindy, you'd think that she started the war. |
|
The bottom line is that they have nothing to hold against Cindy. Anything you throw at her simply forces more people to ask themselves: "What's the noble cause?"
You know they are despite because they are using he word "mother" as a derogatory word.

And she didn't even fully understand what she was saying. Total Kool-aid drinker.

8. If it's true that Cindy wants to run as a Libertarian candidate, it is she |

who is dividing the party.

10. So, if she runs as a Libertarian candidate, what? Her stand is |
|
against the war, not for the Democratic Party. I wish people would realize this.
She is not "dividing" the party.

13. She is also backing Kevin Zeese in Maryland. |
|
On this "anti-war" basis.
However, I learned that the Dem candidate there was AGAINST the IWR.
So, what's up?

24. I was merely responding that those who question Cindy are not doing so |
|
because she is a Democrat. Apparently, she is not.
She is supporting non-Democratic candidates for office. I call that divisive, and not supportive of the Democratic Party.
I think Cindy did great things in Crawford, and she was an important part of the confluence of events that has *finally* led to Bush's downfall (we hope). But when she starts attacking Democrats, and supporting Libertarian Candidates, she loses my support.

26. Look at what she says. She is anti-war. Period. End of Discussion. |
|
If there are Dems for the war, she will not support them. Period.
If you are disappointed in that stance, that is your problem, not hers.
Withdraw your support. Support the war. That is your decision.

28. So by your "logic", we must blindly support Cindy as she attacks |
|
Democrats, dilutes her own message, and completely jumps the shark, or we are supporters of the war?
That nuanced position is just about as defendable as Bush's.
Cindy is jumping the shark. You know it, and that's why you're so defensive.

her decision. I will support her civil disobedience. (Gandhi faced the same nay sayers.)
As to her picks for Congress. Those are her picks. I have my own.
I march in lock-step with no one.

|
She's her own woman and she can speak for herself. I want this war to end. Period. She's lost everything to this administration's illegal war.
Sadly, it's her loss that gives her the most credibility. I can't imagine ever, ever questioning her motives and beliefs vis-a-vis this war.

25. And it's her own credibility to lose. She will lose it if she continues |

on her current trajectory.
Naturally, she is free to do whatever she wants. But if she wants to be effective, she should remember that perception is everything.

I don't know what that caller was trying to say to Randi, however, I don't like how people on this board get called "sleepers, trolls, freepers etc." just because they aren't as radical as some on this board would like us to be.
The Left is a HUGE tent, there will be people with all kinds of ideas about how to go about getting our message out.
Problem is, we're so fractioned and so busy bickering among ourselves we present a fragmented and disjointed alternative to the Morans (And Yes, we do NEED some of those Joe Sixpack voters whether you choose to believe that or not) that vote.
We(those of us on the LEFT side of the spectrum) need to stop beating each over the head and sit down at the table TOGETHER. We're the minority party now we can't go in guns ablazing because no one is going to listen to us and will promptly be swiftboated out of existence by the Right. We can't go in as Republican Lite because when given the choice between Republican Lite and Republicans Morans will always choose Republicans.
We need to find some middle ground among OURSELVES before we can get our country back. Once we're back in power, THEN we can nurture our pet projects, causes etc.
I think the best bet for the Left as this point in time is to relentlessly point out how corrupt this Administration and Republicans in general are. That is our ticket back into power, I pray we just don't screw it up when it comes time to beat those drums!!!! (That time is upon us ... but we need to find out what Fitzgerald has found out and whom is involved before we jump on the Repukes are Scum train.)
Flame away ... I know you will. LOL :hi:

Do you want us to get back into power? Or do you want to stand alone in the corner firmly clutching your "I'm a Radical!" credentials?
Who the fuck are you to decide whom is a Democrat, a Liberal or a Progressive?
For all I know you're a Republican fuck that wants to keep dividing us!

21. Where the fuck did I say Cindy Sheehan IS a radical? |
|
I was responding to the post after mine, Einstein.
You guys are every bit as bad as ANYONE on the Right with your jumps in logic and bizarre conclusions.
All I'm saying is, if we as the minority Party in this country want to get back into power we better stop beating the shit out of each other and present an united front.
Republicans are the scum of the Earth, no question, but I admire one thing about the fuckers. They stay on message, they present a united front ... something we Democrats and Progressives have not been able to do since the civil rights and Vietnam protests.
I fear a lot of you tend to romanticize the 60's and think that we can do the same things and net the same result. Unfortunately, the world has changed, our country has changed drastically since the fucking Reagan years and we have to work with what we have now ...
A media that is corrupt and complicit with the Radical right so we need to take our message directly to the people.
How are going to do that if we can't even agree among ourselves what that message should be and how we should deliver it?

I'm just tired of people getting called trolls, freepers, and worst of all REPUBLICANS if they don't agree completely with particular points of view that appear on this board from time to time. In reality, you're the guys that need to switch to decaf when it comes to anything that remotely approaches ... dare I say it? A MODERATE position on issues.
I know we're all sick of the fuckers in power and we're quite impatient and frankly pretty PISSED about being correct about Bush and his merry band of Neo-Cons and not getting our props for being right about the petulant two year old squatting in the Oval Office. That being said, we need to stop eating our own! Let's sit back and watch the Republicans do that when the indictments come down. Pass the popcorn!!!:o
