I stand with CINDY. She does NOT stand alone.
When Cindy protests in front of the White House, I will be protesting this war where I live. Vigils are planned across the country. Am I the only DUer who plans to support this action?

From the American Friends Service Committee:

"There are currently 352 events planned in 48 states and counting...

On the day after the 2,000th reported U.S. military death in Iraq, people will gather in communities across the U.S. to say that the country’s pro-peace majority wants Congress to stop the deaths by stopping the dollars that are funding the war."

1. I am 100% behind civil disobedience. Let's stop being armchair quarterbacks
and do something! Or at least support someone who realizes how to infect a bleeding wound! I think we have become too passive in this nation - and look where it's gotten us?

12. I'm so proud that my parents took me to anti-war marches and civil
rights rallies and concerts, etc... I personally find it to be something to brag about - a time in history where the PEOPLE finally decided to have a say in this government OF the PEOPLE. I am not happy with the couch-potato society we've become since then...

3. We Stand With Cindy, Too
I am with the planning group putting together the vigil here in Phoenix, AZ. Sadly, it looks like the 2,000th death will be this week....We have a small but active group here - we had about 2,000 to 2,500 people participating in the march on Sept. 24th. I love reading the DU posts, they keep me charged up!!!

17. Sadly the death toll stands at 1998
I have been feeling a sense of dread for several days as the death toll mounted. Being forced to focus on the deaths before they happen, believing as I do that the lives are being needlessly sacrificed touches a raw nerve in my heart and exposes me to the reality of what is happening half a world away.

I don't understand how a man like Bush can ever have a peaceful night's sleep.

She is my inspiration and I met several folks in DC on Sept.24 who went there because of Cindy's message. She has a huge following of true patriots who want truth and peace.

I will be attending a Vigil in my hometown and lighting candles.

7. We stand with Cindy...
"Not One More Death, Not One More Dollar"

In solidarity with many other peace and justice groups throughout the nation, WFPI will commemorate and mourn the death of our 2,000 soldiers killed in Iraq. The U.S. body count is now at 1988 and still growing, so we anticipate this announcement to be broadcast in the next few days. We will mark this terrible cost of war by holding a solemn candlelight vigil on the day after the tv or radio announcement is made. Please watch the news, and join us the next evening.

Where: Green Square Park, downtown Cedar Rapids (3rd Avenue and 5th street)
When: 7 pm, the evening after the announcement is made.
*Names of the dead will be read and honored.

10. I stand with Cindy!
The peace movement would not be what it is without her. She is a genuine hero, working from her heart to END THIS ILLEGAL WAR AND STOP THE KILLING!

She doesn't represent the Dems? I think her 'representation' transcends our political parties - she represents everyone in the world who opposes this war. And she is doing a hell of a lot more than most to bring attention to the tragedy we call 'spreading freedom'.

The country and the world see what she does, and they gain inspiration from her strength and courage. I know I do. People who find her a 'turn-off' are the people who will never break the rules to SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER.

There is no more noble cause than hers.

please tell her that I have been following her since GSFP... Please tell her it was an honor to help hold down the camp, I dream about at leats once a week and I don't think there has been a single event that has affected me so much in my life.

Please tell her that I am glad she is home re: October 10th, I cried for that moment... it was a moment I was hoping she would have.

Please tell her I am crying again right now as I write this for the hope she brings and that I'll stand with her like she was one of my family.

37. I posted this in the current "bash Cindy" thread but
it's dropping fast so I thought since I spent the time to write it I could post it where someone might see it...

You know what really pisses me off? People who think Cindy has "jumped the shark". Most people close to Cindy don't want her to do this either. But they are not worried about the "movement", her handlers, how this looks, how it might give ammo to the right, or any of that shit. They are worried about CINDY. How much can she possibly take. She lost Casey, she's getting divorced, she's been a lightning rod for right-wing attack machine, she's been arrested once already, and noone can seem to talk her out of this. This is like the third thread on this crap already. Enough!!!!!! Let it be. She is doing what she thinks she needs to be doing, and nobody is going to stop her. Unless you lost a child in Iraq than you can't possibly understand her so give it up. She single handedly jump started the anti-war movement, and every one of you who want to stop this war OWE HER for that!!!! You may not like what she is doing but there is no need to keep up this pointless debate. Cut it the fuck out. After reading through all these threads I have come to realize that the motives for these threads are purely selfish bullshit. Those of you who think it will hurt the movement, or, achieve little, or turn people against her ought to examine your motives for your "outrage". If this is what Cindy needs to do to ease her pain then I will support her, I may not agree with it but I will certainly be there if she needs me...

38. That is compassion true and blue...thank you for speaking this truth
I posted a bit on this as well (that those close to her might in fact not be wanting her to do this and from the POV you describe), though I was not nearly so eloquent as you.

I do support her in this strongly, she is on a path that is hers alone by burden but all of ours through empathy. She made it clear where this is coming from in her piece on Oct 10th. I know what it is to find that kind of home after tragedy.

As for Cindy jumping the shark, Cindy is the shark. She is our shark... and I for one am emminently thankful for that and all her work that I've seen since last Spring.

Not to sound cheesy but that pic of Viggo in the van with Cindy holding her hand, I know that kind of comfort and you cant PR that kind of reality, there is no faking mourning more so when that mourning is so unjustified.

The wishy washy johnny and janey go quicklies are out of touch with what Cindy was and is about her message has not changed since August and some have failed totally to answer her question "what noble cause?".

All that being said we must always remember and empathetically consider the human quotient above and beyond the political quotients, to do less is a dishonor to humanity itself.

Thank you for your post, you spoke truth for so many of us.
