New repub talking points: Mr X and "miscarriage of justice"....
heard on CBS radio news earlier today, similar to what is posted in a thread re CBS tv news:

repubs talking heads say a Mr. X gave the plame info to Scooter and Rove.

If Scooter and Rove are indicted and Mr X is not, this will PROVE Mr X deliberately tried to set up Scooter and Rove.

therefore PROVES Scooter and Rove are innocent.

then indictements of Scooter and Rove can be called "miscarriage of
justice".

talk about yer twisted logics

2. I don't think invisible friends are admissible evidence.
If Fitz has evidence that one of these asshats did the dirty deed an invisible scapegoat won't wash in court.

3. So all Rove and Scooter have to do
is identify Mr. X and provide an explanation as to how Mr. X got the information.
Powell supposedly has testified that the only person to whom he showed the fax with the Plame info was to bush.
So if Mr. X told Scooter and Rove, then Bush told Mr. X. Bush was the traitor. That's not such a bad scenario, is it?

4. It doesn't matter where they got the info ...
Edited on Mon Oct-24-05 07:53 PM by BattyDem
Scooter and Rove chose to out an undercover CIA agent during a time of war. To make matters worse, the war was the result of a search for WMDs, and finding WMDs just happened to be Plame's job. They jeopardized her life and the lives of every person she came in contact with, as well as our ability to locate WMDs, which is a matter of national security.

It doesn't matter who told them ... what matters is the fact that THEY told the PRESS!

On edit: Of course, if Mr. X does exist (and I don't believe he does), he should also be indicted ... but that does NOT excuse the actions of Scooter and Rove!

7. Doesn't it seem that if Mr X's name was needed
to indict, Fitzgerald would have held Scooter and Rove on the same charge as Judy? The reasoning escapes me, is this just terrible spin?

8. They illegally communicated classified national defense information
Regardless of the source, Rove and Libby certainly knew Plame's role in the CIA was classified and that they were crossing the line in telling journalists. Then they tried to cover their tracks and lied about the sequence of events.

In the Franklin/AIPAC indictments press release, prosecutor Paul McNulty stated that unlawful delivery and transmission of classified info related to the national defense had occurred to persons not entitled to receive it including members of the media in an effort to influence. He also stated that "those entrusted with safeguarding our nation's secrets must remain faithful to that trust". Hopefully Fitzgerald will issue a similar press release when indictments are issued explaining the rationale.
