Poll question: Will the Miers nomination be withdrawn?
Alot of conservatives on the Sundays shows were saying yes. The Withdraw Miers crowd seems to be gaining steam and she herself seems to have no one except Brit Hume excited.

3. She's toast. Shrub won't cut the ropes himself,
but will make sure it looks like it's her idea. JMO

4. My guess
is that she will withdraw her nomination rather than put everyone through the agony of it all. Otherwise, I think she'll end up as a total sacrifice play.

5. Yes, Bush laid the groundwork today (advice to White House) it
will provide a plausible excuse.

6. Bush is not the type to voluntarily withdraw her nomination...
... so I don't think it would come in that way. She herself might, but that's definitely up in the air.

What's at least as likely is that the judiciary committee won't pass her on for a vote in the Senate as an exchange for taking private testimony from Littwin, or not calling him to testify, something like that.

And, as others have mentioned, Bush is refusing to supply documentation of her work in the White House (even though there's precedent that he must), and the committee could just as easily give Bush an out by saying they can't vote for her without the documentation. That way, Bush can rail about not giving her an up-or-down vote, and the `pugs can satisfy their hard-line religious right constituency, thus leaving the door open for Bush to nominate a real dragon lady.

7. Only if "Double-down W" is starting to crack.
This is a guy who is never wrong. In the face of any and all resistance, he merely redoubles his efforts. Among the many harsher (and well-deserved) judgments of history, he will go down as the obstinate president.

9. Shrub will never withdraw her nomination.
She will quietly step down due to family concerns or some other "cover," letting Chimp continue to sing her praises while she rides off into the "what-if" sunset.

Miers may have to withdraw tomorrow because someone comes out with the nude photos of her taken when she was 21 by her lesbian lover at the time! It still won't matter. Miers is SO last week!
