41. First, he is trying to chuckle but it sounds like pig snorts |
|
Second he is saying that Bush is a "good" president, that will be toughen by recent events. Agreed, than retracted, that Karl Rove will be indicted. Predicted that Miers will withdraw from consideration in two weeks.
Interesting that all the freepers with their books run to Stewart to promote their books there, even at the risk of being humiliated for five minutes, since it was found that their books do get a boost from being promoted on the Daily Show.

63. Note that as Kristol is saying Bush is a "good" president, and |
|
that he would be toughened by recent events, it's fairly easy to discern that Kristol is trying to come off as half-serious or funny. Or possibly, he believes his position, but subconsciously knows it is weak.

I'm not even sure why someone like Kristol comes on the show. Does he think ANY of the audience will buy his book, especially when Jon picks it up at the beginning and says "Reading this, I have to give you credit, you were wrong about Iraq way before anyone else was." LOL.

Scafe or whoever is the $ behind his little dipshit mag will pull the plug and he'll be reduced to Dennis Miller status groveling around for a chance to get his face on tv.

Kristol was just repeating the same old tired talking points. He was truly flustered.

Otherwise, Jon's simple, candid way of just being honest had him on the ropes.
These people are total clowns. Exposed!

16. Bill Kristol has looked totally shaken & demoralized since |
|
the Miers nomination. I think he defended Bush & put up with a lot in the hopes that Bush would nominate his great conservative justice. When that didn't happen, maybe Kristol finally realized that Bush really is only out for himself. Going on The Daily Show seems a little like an act of self-hatred. Maybe he's regretting his support for Bush (all this & I didn't even watch the show! Is it online anywhere?)

Bill Kristol said something like, "Hey, whatever doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger..." and Jon said, "Well, unfortunately...." kind of under his breath.
He covered it up by saying, "Oh, no, the Bush Administration"....but the implication was clear.

I also think Kristol was trying to make the best of a bad situation by coming up with a trite response. There was even an implied threat in what he said, along the lines of, "Wait and see. We'll be back and we'll be stronger."

It seemed like Kristol was so ashamed of the reich that he didn't even bother putting up a persuasive argument.. and the half-hearted defense he put up for Dubya was puncuated by revealing smirks and giggles. He knows Bush is a joke... he's just not allowed to say it.
That was stunning television.

Kristol and his Neocon band of crooks, liars, and thieves are being exposed. Even some of my repuke friends are dog-cussing these fools because of what they've done to the repuke party. They realize now that the Neocons don't give a damn about their party, and it's just being used as a conduit to feed their own agenda.

I haven't seen Kristol for a long while, but he was all over the BBC in the run up to Iraq. Back then he was a vicious attack dog, a fierce defender of his ideas, of Bush and the neo-conservative movement in general.
Tonight he was just so pathetic. "I believe Rove will be indicted." In the old days he'd never of said that, regardless what he thought personally. Plus the stuff about the Miers appointment -- "She'll step down in the next 2 weeks." -- talk about not singing from the same hymn sheet anymore.
