The glass is half full!
Forgive me for cheerleading, but have you stopped to think that we have survived almost SIX YEARS of this bastard administration's foibles and follies? Six years of terrible leadership. Six years of subpar abilities. We have survived.

We only have three more years to go. When you think of what all we've been through, three years is a period of time we can handle. And it's going to be much better than the previous half-decade, because we now have the momentum and the Republicans are on the defensive. In 2006, we can and will take back the Senate and the House.

In 2008, we stand a good chance of winning the presidency.

When times seem awfully tough, just remember that the winds, they are a' changin'. We can make it through this. We WILL make it through this.

If anything, the Bush2 years are a testiment to the awesome ability of our democratic republic's ability to recover from the most horrendous destruction our nation has ever seen.

We will make it through. And prevail. I truly believe this.

3. Not everyone survived.
And there is a pile of debt, danger and degradation waiting for us to clean up once Bush is gone, and a whole slew of corporate and religious righties chomping at the bit to kill us off once and for all.

Just saying.

7. Don't be melodramatic.

No one is wanting to "kill us off."

So there will be challenges. I have faith that our Democratic representatives will do a much better job at repairing the problems than Republican leadership would.

12. No, I mean not everyone survived.
Two thousand servicemen in Iraq alone.

That's not melodrama. That's simply a fact. Not everyone survived Bush.

16. I understand that. And the hurricane victims on the Gulf Coast who...
were not evacuated before nor cared for after the storm. By the time the death count is finished, there will be over 2000 dead on the coast, because FEMA had no plan to prepare for or react to Katrina.

And people who were forced to decide between medicine or food, and died because social services have been cut.

Oh, I agree, many have died because of this administration's terrible policies, both foreign and domestic.

But I don't think that there's any kind of liberal holocaust occurring, and that's why I said not to be melodramatic. I apologize, if that's not what you meant.

17. No, I see what I did. I mixed the metaphorical with the literal.
Literal first, then switched to the metaphorical, political sense at the end. Tired. Must sleep.

4. Five years
I hope we survive it. I keep thinking of how many lives will be ruined or taken from them in the next three years, and wondering whether the damage can ever be undone.

I'm afraid to even look at the glass right now.

9. Yeah, five years...
I'm too eager for 2006 to get here, I guess.

The damage can be undone. With proper leadership, it can. Just imagine what more COULD have happened, had not the Plame scandal and the Miers appointment not happened.

11. Oh, I'm not taking lightly the people who have died because of this...
administration's lousy leadership.

But imagine where we would be, if the developments of the past several months had not happened. We would probably have 11 more years of inept Republican leadership.

It's a shame that it took travesty after travesty for the American public to wake from its slumber. It's a shame that so many lives have been lost, with no way to replace them.

I'm just happy that times are changing, and people are waking up.

we have lots of work to do, and really need to stay focused. it will be difficult to not have fat heads by the end of the week, but they need to be stomped while they're down and out (fungus and mold grow back quickly)

15. They have certainly made a mess of things, but I'm with you
Maddy. I have been saying for a long time that things cannot stay as they are, because they never do, good times or bad. I'm not glossing over the horrible things this administration has done, the worst of which is sending this country into a pre-emptive war. But their chickens ARE coming home to roost, and we as a country are strong, perhaps stronger than we realize. I'm with you, Maddy!

(And hugs to Little A!)

I'm not so sure we'll be saddled with the rat bastard for three more years, though...

Keep the faith.

Peace.
