Sorry for the earlier screwy link :)
The U.S. holds about 500 detainees in its detention center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba

A Bahraini detainee held at the U.S. detention center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba revealed more sexual abuses by the American soldiers there and confirmed Qur’an desecration.
...
Al-Dossary, 30, said he witnessed U.S. soldiers at Kandahar Air Base in Afghanistan cleaning their boots with pages they had ripped from the Holy Qur’an.
...

In September 2002, Al-Dossary was taken to an interrogation room where he found four MPs, one carrying a video camera. Al-Dossary said he was shackled to the floor, stripped naked on orders from a female interrogator, who stripped and squatted over his genitals, chest, and face smearing him with her menstrual blood to force him admit having links to Al-Qaeda network.

On a later occasion Al Dossary says he was forced to watch naked man and woman having sex, then offered sex with the woman if he co-operated with the interrogators, Gulf Daily News reported.

Welcome to Nazi America. Just a few bad apples?

3. But the apples are at the top....
Not at the bottom.

This has been a systematic program initiated by the top levels of this administration and carried out by soldiers who have either no courage or no concept of the Geneva convention, much less basic human decency.

4. While I could believe this...
I'd be curious to discover the mental disposition of the menstruating woman.

This is quite a bit over the top. And, considering the source, to be taken with a grain of salt.

6. It's not just about gathering intelligence.
The type of actions described in the top level post of this thread also seem to be aimed at causing maximum outrage to Moslems...and giving disaffected Moslems in the ME a reason to hate the US.

It's just another policy tool aimed at keeping the perpetual warfare going IMHO.

7. That could be the case.
But it's not only Muslims in th ME that this administration is angering.

I just came back from a weekend visiting another Mosque here in the US, and to be frank, this isn't playing well to American Muslims either. Many, many American Muslims I spoke to are not only upset at the administration, but there is also a growing resentment toward groups like INSA and CAIR for breaking bread with Bush, et al at Iftar Dinners without saying anything against the Injustice.

But then again, if they had been uppity muslims, they wouldn't have been invited to break bread with their "betters".

This growing dissatisfaction is mostly among American born muslims who view this war against "terraism" to be in truth a war against Islam. It was confided to me by a brother from abroad that he and others like him are afraid to speak out too much if at all because they are from other countries.

12. this is a real WELCOME TO AMERICA!
These actions DO sound like frat boy initiations. Maybe the Iraqis are just being welcomed to america.
They don't call it a strip mall for nothing.
This underbelly is the elephant in the room.
What is it Bush wanted to bring to Iraq?
The rituals he went through to get into the Skull and Bones?

Is there any serious news source to confirm this?

http://english.aljazeera.net is the homepage of Al Jazeera television channel based in Qatar.

www.aljazeera.com IS NOT.

16. Yes, And. . .
That doesn't answer anything. Why should the thread be locked? No matter the source, the OP is sourced. It's not made up by the OP. It's something that's been reported and worthy of discussion. Hence the point of General Discussion. When you make the rules around here, "Because" will be answer enough for me. Until then, it would be nice if you were more specific.
