" 'Left Behind' Screened in 3,200 Churches"
:puke: You couldn't pay me to watch that drek.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The filmmakers of "Left Behind: World at War" figured a little preaching to the choir would help market the Christian-themed thriller.

They preceded the movie's DVD release Tuesday with screenings at about 3,200 churches across the United States and Canada, hoping to build word-of-mouth for the straight-to-video sequel in Kirk Cameron's series of films about Armageddon.

Cloud Ten Pictures, which produces the "Left Behind" movies, did not yet have attendance estimates on how many people caught "World at War" during the weekend screenings.

But the company went into the weekend projecting as many as 1.8 million people would attend the church viewings, a potential army of disciples who could help promote the DVD sales.

1. I know.
the local Boxley Baptist Church is showing it this weekend. And on the 30th, we peace loving folks will be meeting at nearby Ponca. Hope the mind rot has stopped by then, or we may have crazed freeping right wingers roaming around, telling us how 'wrong' we are.

23. We might do the Dances of Universal Peace
which basically is a practice proclaiming all faiths are one. Knowing who is coming, the other two options might be also available! :)

4. "Straight-to-video"
All you need to know about this lame attempt to paper the house.

But if people want to watch this nonsense, I have no problem with it. After all, fools and their money have long been separated from each other by cheap hucksters.

9. They'll never
be shown in Catholic churches. I'll never watch them, either. I read the first book to see what the "phenomenon" was about, and it was absolute dreck!

10. Yawnnnnnnn
I can remember going to a Southern Baptist church when I was in my teens in the mid 70's and the minister very confidently told everyone that the end was near! OK, so he was right about Elvis...

11. We've secretly replaced their copies with "Left's Behind", a porno flick
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 02:32 PM by Ezlivin
Taking a page from the ol' Folger's "switch" commercials.

I can imagine the silence during the first 60 seconds of the porn flick. Many of the viewers would find themselves coming to Jesus repeatedly.

18. i watched a "left behind" movie on satellite the other night
starring kurt cameron as a journalist who has the job of exposing the antichrist on his tv show.

after 20 minutes of this car wreck my wife made me change it. it was unwatchable and really made no sense. it was mostly kurt cameron and the other male lead praying and giving praise to god. there was a hasidic jew with them, i think he was being converted by the things kurt was exposing....i think. it seemed that the jewish guy was sort of a bumbler who was dependent on k.c. for enlightenment. i would assume he was converted by the end of the film.

this movie had zero production value. it looked like it was filmed during the '70's.

the station that showed it is a christian network, i don't know the name of the network. on my satellite page it shows up as "DSTR". i assume its short for "Disaster".

28. My problem with the Left Behind series is the laughable Anti-Christ.
We know the righties hate the U.N., but to use the head of the U.N. as the main villian is silly. I mean c'mon! How powerful is the U.N.? If anyone in this era has the power and the ability to be a wolf in sheep's clothing, it's Bush. There's your friggin Anti-Christ.

32. LaHaye once worked for Rev. Moon.
He's no longer an official employee, but he and his wife Beverly still have a lot of ties to the True Father.

If you wonder why Bush is so popular and why people are so looney tunes as of late, look no further than this series. It puts some seriously fucked up ideas into peoples' heads.

Oh, and Kirk Cameron is going to Hell. http://www.wayofthemaster.com
