Can Fitzgerald continue to investigate the Italian forgeries?

I know Fitz sent investigators to check out the forgeries but this seems so late in the game. It seems to me the story behind the forgeries needs more investigation time. Can Fitz ask for an extension on these new leads yet still go for Indictments on the current charges?

What is the process for these new leads? Is it possible that Fitz has already gathered all he needs on the forgeries?

1. Just because you are now hearing that Fitzgerald investigated

the forgeries, it doesn't necessarily follow that these are "new leads."

It only means that we are just now hearing about them. ;-)
