Interview with Harriet Miers
(snip)

Rowlett: President Bush also looks for people who consider loyalty a virtue, doesn't he?

Miers: I think you'll find in the people surrounding him an incredible dedication to him and to Mrs. Bush. He is an inspirational guy. When people see that, they want to go to the ends of the earth for him. It's a really unique quality in somebody.

(snip)

Rowlett: I remember President George H. W. Bush once telling me that it was important to pick your friends carefully in Washington. You'd agree?

Miers: Well, this White House is a friendly environment. I'm often asked what my biggest surprise has been since coming to Washington. For me, it's been how incredibly pleasant it is to deal with very significant issues with people you're at ease with, and there's not this competitive environment you might expect in a White House experience. It's made a tough job more pleasant. And White House Chief of Staff Andy Card is wonderful and dedicated. When he gets choked up about such things as the oath of office, it's difficult not to get choked up with him.

9. But would a 12-yr. old be savvy enough
to make the windfall deal Miers made on a sliver of her property that "apparently" was part of a Superfund cleanup in Texas...for which she was paid, by the taxpayers of Texas, 10 times over the market value. Ten times over. With tax money.
The payment was disputed (after paid) and reduced.
Miers has never repaid the state of Texas for the reduction. (which still gave her well over market value for the property).
It was clearly a sweetheart deal for a Bush loyalist.
But is this really how a devout Christian woman acts? Bilking the taxpayers out of thousands of dollars?
She's not the little Hollie Hobbie she appears. That's just her act for her sweet Georgie.
She's another sugar wouldn't melt in her mouth conservative woman who is actually a cold-hearted opportunist whose Christian values are applied every morning like her heavy makeup.
And they portray Hillary as cold.

12. I should have specified. "A very evil calculating 12 yr. old". Those
moronic musings about Junior prove it. (no offense to actual 12 yr olds with corny ass crushes on psychotic megalomaniacs)

11. Cue music:
Judiciary roasting a harried Miers,
Biden showing off his plugs,
Cronyism inquiries from Democrats,
and hostile questions from Repugs,

Everybody knows a turkey like this nominee
Will crash and burn off in a blur
Brownback, Graham, even Kennedy
Will find it hard to vote for her

They know a new SCOTUS pick's on his way
Better or worse than Miers
Who can say

And ev’ry DUer
is gonna hope
Bush never gets his way, he'll be on his last rope-

And so, I’m offering this simple phrase
For use by any at DU
It should be said, many times, many ways;
“Harriet Miers? Not You!”

14. somebody with that much blind loyalty to her president is not
qualified to serve on the Supreme Court. If any case came up involving Bush or administration policy she would need to step aside.
