I also believe we should honor the dead from the Viet Nam War by re-invading that country and fighting till we achieve true victory. It will take sacrifice, but I think that's what the Viet Nam military families would want.

4. The best honorarium is that we kill at least one person for each
dead in their memory.
Yeah that's what these dead soldiers would want--I'm almost certain.:sarcasm:

You know, those guys have been itching for a fight since the 1830s. Don't we owe it to Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie and the rest of them to take out those south of the border bastards once and for all? This aggression shall NOT stand!

11. Iraq
Our war dead's sacrifice can only be honored if Iraq returns to normalcy. The only way to 'normalize' Iraq (IMO) is to replace US troops with those from the UN and NATO. Fears of US imperialism are, in large part fueling the insurgency; the insurgency will probably wane once the US withdraws.

Of course, we would need a President with the diplomatic skills necessary to win back allies and convince the world that they need to support such an effort. Maybe we could convince the world community of our new sincerity by cooperating on other fronts such as (God forbid) global warming, or the international dollar crisis.

Of course, if our troops do leave Iraq, we will lose control of what happens there. We should never have tried to control their future in the first place. We will lose control over Iraqi oil, but it really is theirs, and we should not have sold it during the occupation government only to turn around and give $100 bills in bulk to thugs and questionable contractors. Graft in no way honors our veterans.

Of course, if we withdraw from Iraq, Iraq will most likely become an Islamic Republic under the umbrella of Iran. We should have thought about that before deposing the only secular government in the region. Ironic when you consider that we supported Saddam for so many years.

Our soldiers' sacrifice is huge when you consider that so many joined the National Guard to protect their country and their individual states. They did not join up so numb nutz could send them on foreign adventures at whim, breaking the US' long-standing tradition of not being a bully. If we really want to honor this sacrifice, we will all scream at the top of our lungs 'NO MORE PRE-EMPTIVE WARFARE, AND NO MORE WARFARE BASED ON LIES AND MANUFACTURED EVIDENCE.'

12. what's wrong with this 'logic'
we lost about 3,000 in the WTC disaster we only need 1,000 more to die in Iraq to avenge those tragic deaths....doncha thinks that adds up? a death for a death....should make the WTC families feel like we rectified the situation...btw anybody else hear the rumor that Osama was buried 4 months ago after becoming gravely ill?

Let him prance around with his Mission Accomplished costume on thru the streets of Bahgdad, without proper armor. And have Cheney and Wolfowitz join him.

26. "2,000 soldiers dead in War on Terra! Show 'em what they've won, Ed!"
"They've won an extra War on Terra, Blink!"

U.S. intelligence officials say Abu Musab al-Zarqawi has expanded his terrorism campaign in Iraq to extremists in two dozen terror groups scattered across almost 40 countries, creating a network that rivals Osama bin Laden's.

<snip>

In figures not made public before, counterterrorism officials say that Zarqawi's network of contacts has grown dramatically since the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 and now includes associates in nearly 40 countries in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe...

That's phenomenal fucking progress, bushies.
The mind staggers at the thought of what we can win for 5,000 dead soldiers...
