4. Or Fannie Lou Hamer.
Her speech at the Democratic convention in 64 turned the movement around and gave it national and international support.

Any civil rights poll MUST include Fannie Lou Hamer, of Sunflower, MS. She was beaten, forcibly sterilized, and she stood up and told the nation about it, and refused to hide her light under the bushel anymore.

God bless her.

2. Local people who formed grassroots networks and a grassroots movement
Who risked their lives and health to be the true heart of the Civil Rights Movement.

While all of the people you mentioned are admirable, it is the local people who are the true, unsung heroes of the Civil Rights Movement.

With that, I'd like to mention two I admire:

Janie Monley
CC Bryant.

6. Gotta mention Malcolm X...
because, during a time of integration and assimilation and co-option, he was reminding black people to stand strong.
