Tweety: FBI Agents in Wilson's Neighborhood Today
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 06:31 PM by DemocracyInaction
Did you catch that on Tweety tonight? He was talking to W. Post guy and guy said that even as late as today FBI agents are going through Wilson's neighborhood asking the neighbors if they knew Plame was CIA or didn't know until the leak. In passing, W. Post person remarked that it's Fitzgerald still putting pieces together, etc. In other words, this looks like he is trying to build a real shield against the expected onslaught by the repuke excuse makers and blame throwers that keep saying that it's no big thing because everyone knew she was CIA BEFORE the leak. Also dawned on me that maybe we are seeing the revenge of the FBI (and possibly CIA) who were made out to look like incompetent criminals for 9/11 and the CIA for Iraq War in order to protect the useless hide of Fortunate Dim-Wit. Pass the popcorn, please........

2. Important to nail down neighbors' accounts before indictments
If account is true it surprises me that this has not already been done and reports filed away a long time ago since it would be important to make sure indictments are not overturned. Otherwise neighbors could be paid off or influenced or talked into changing their stories or signing statements after indictments that they knew her CIA role earlier. I remember reading articles where neighbors were interviewed by reporters and neighbors had no idea she worked for the CIA.

I would think the CIA would know if Plame was undercover or not. NO REASON TO GO FURTHER THAN THAT.

8. LSK--no there trying to find out if the neighbors knew about her
so that the Bush crowd can't say that everyone knew she was CIA before the leak.

11. The CIA would NEVER, and I will repeat NEVER have asked justice
to investigate the leak unless she was an undercover agent. End of story.

I am getting the feeling that the FBI guys out there aren't working for Fitzgerald but Gonzalez. Trying to cover his buddies' collective asses.

13. Something from another post also got my attention
One of you just posted this info within an article by LA Times. It was about NBC tonight (Gregory) talking about interviewing lower level people in WH about Rove, etc. Anyway, when I saw that I also wondered why they would be doing this today in the 9th hour.....Again, it would seem that things would have to be air tight by this time. Makes me a bit nervous unless they just want to pile on as much as they can, etc.

7. The FBI and CIA both have axes to grind with Bush et al.
As you noted, they got dumped on by Bush and crew.

12. A neighbor wrote an op-ed in July
A neighbor's view of Valerie Wilson's 'outing'
By Christopher Wolf
Joe and Valerie Wilson are my next door neighbors in a hilly neighborhood just west of Georgetown. We moved in within months of each other seven years ago, attracted to our respective houses by the view of the Capitol in the distance and the Washington Monument in the foreground. The patriotic view is stirring.
I have another view from my window, of a neighbor who is a working, devoted mother of 5-year-old twins, a volunteer for charities, a woman active in her church, and a caring person. Soft-spoken, self-effacing and very private, Valerie is very easy to label "the lovely woman next door."

To some, I am known as Joe and Valerie's lawyer, a fact that has surfaced by my occasional statements on their behalf. The Wilsons don't need a lawyer for any pending proceeding; I am simply helping them understand some of the technicalities of the criminal investigation and collecting facts for any eventual civil suit. Before Robert Novak's column, I was simply their friend and neighbor, a role that will continue long after the White House leak matter is over.
...
As I finished reading the (Novak) column, Joe ventured out onto his deck and offered a neighborly hello. I held up the paper and yelled over, "I had no idea about Valerie!" Joe looked stricken and gestured to me to keep my voice down. I immediately realized the "outing" of Valerie as a covert CIA operative had had a devastating effect on the Wilson family. In the weeks to follow, I came to understand just how harrowing the disclosure was. Obviously, the identification of Valerie meant an end to her decades-long career. It also meant the country had lost an essential part of the services provided by someone who was an expert on weapons of mass destruction.
