Who here feels like you cannot rest until this whole nightmare is
over? I mean, I can't sleep right now due to Fitzmas anxiety. In fact, I haven't rested well since 2000 and part of me will not rest easy until these criminals are out of the White House. Can anyone relate to that?

1. I can so totally relate to that
I have been in a state of anxiety since 2000, and more so since 2004; I feel like life cannot move forward until they are exposed and brought to justice, and the country collectively wakes from its nightmare and breathes normally again.

I know lately there is hope since so much is happening with the "culture of corruption" legal action. Still, I don't feel like I can relax and get on with my life until this horror is over. It is so stressful...as I am sure you are well aware of.

45. You should see the back of her head
(I guess I should take pictures of it then, huh?)

Her coloring is split down the exact center with gray on one half and sienna on the other. I call it her half-and-half head. :D

She's gotten quite fat since this pic, and now looks like a butterball turkey. (She's on a diet, but "betwixt the two of them" she eats all the fat and he eats all the lean! They drive me crazy, but I love them.)

And, yes, I also have been increasingly edgy-I have to consciously back away from time to time-to keep sane. I just keep thinking of the Ghandi quote that good always prevails. Lately I've been feeling alot more hopeful.....

5. Well, I have to agree with the original poster....I can't even sleep...
tonight and I haven't been the same since 2000. I wish I was like most of my friends. They're Dems, they vote, but they haven't been effected like I have (except my one friend who was so disgusted that he moved to Costa Rica). It's really taken its toll on me. As far as I'm concerned - this is it. If they aren't totally exposed now, I'll have to take an indefinite break. What's happened to this country defies all reason and I don't know why I'm still trying to understand the un-understandable.

19. Rest easy, as criminals have been in the White House ever
since its construction. Repug or Dem they have all been thieves in one way or another. Yeah times are a lot rougher than they have been in the past, but always remember that a pendulum must swing both ways.

As the saying goes things must get worse before they get better. My addition to that is that the worse things get, the better things will become.

20. Very little sleep lately
Edited on Wed Oct-26-05 01:46 AM by Proud2BaLiberalMom
I get very little sleep lately. I've been waiting for this moment
for years! It's hard for me to understand people who say "I'm
not really that INTO politics", How can they NOT realize how much
it affects ALL of us??? Sometimes I take a few days off, just to
try and breath and pretend things are okay in this country/this
world...but pretty soon I'm right back at it, researching, questioning,
searching....It's gotten to the point that I get after my husband
whenever he turns the TV on to the cable news. I ask him how he
can watch that propaganda? I'm sure hoping for a wonderful
Fitzmas morning, a glass of wine to celebrate, then finally...
some much needed sleep.

But...
something tells me I won't be able to turn the
TV off in a few hours...:yoiks:

I am extremely political. I think it's in my blood. For me it's about justice and equity.

I can't stand that hogwash from people - "I'm not into politics" and other such nonsense. It only affects your whole life and mine too. What's with that?

26. I know...
It's in my blood too.
One of my earliest childhood memories
is of my grandfather, sitting at our
kitchen table, talking politics,
telling those around the table how
'bad' those repugnicans are. Boy...
I guess they've always been corrupt!

Whenever I come across someone who
says that politics doesn't interest
them, frankly, I don't know what to
say to them for a moment or two, but
then I try and explain. Weather it
does any good or not, I'm not sure,
but at least I try.

30. I feared the worst of this cabal from the very start...
it has been a horrifying experience! I've always kept an eye on things, politically speaking, but I never thought in my wildest dreams I would have involved myself with such a focused determination. These rat bastards terrify me. They almost succeeded in stealing my beloved country. I told my hubby that there were few things I thought worth dying for. I've found that protecting and defending The Constitution and The Bill of Rights isn't just our duty as American citizens. It is a privilege.

Merry Fitmas DUers!

Peace.

BTW- I think it's a emotional time, as well. We've lost 2000 (IMO, the numbers are off) men, women, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, best friends...WE MUST HONOR THEIR DEATHS BY HONORING TRUTH. It's up to us to change the course of history...

32. Can totally relate
I frequently wonder if our country can EVER recover from the disaster and utter havoc wrought by the second BushCo administration. In my most paranoid moments I imagine Bush (Cheney/Rove) declaring martial law, suspending the Constitution and simply not leaving office. Even if this evil administration magically disappeared tomorrow we are left with a mountain of ills and problems: the staggering deficit, a nation so bitterly divided there's been nothing like it since the Civil War (and I'm including the Vietnam era), a worthless, spineless, disgraceful Congress only interested in pork & self-survival, an even more worthless mainstream media, a shaky electoral process that is rigged and too easily manipulated, an anesthetized, dumbed-down populace where too high a percentage doesn't even bother to vote anymore, a bunch of highly organized, well-funded conservative think tanks still out there who want the tax codes even more telescoped to benefit the top 1% of the wealthiest and the so-called "Patriot Act" expanded to gut the Constitution & Bill of Rights even more, the lunatic, Taliban-esque theocrats who want evangelical "Christianity" (Jesus would shudder!) written into law, the tragic consequences of Iraqi & American lives ruined by this quagmire war, our international reputation in tatters ---- the list is endless.

i can never feel vindication..people died that should not have , and for no damned reason...

41. It's like the Nixon death-watch, only I've lost so much optimism...
Edited on Wed Oct-26-05 06:15 AM by Hekate
...since those days. When Nixon resigned I hated him for years, but you know I really thought this country was okay, that the Constitution was working.

Little did any of us know that the Neocon seeds were being laid that would lead us to THIS national nightmare, one so foul that it makes Nixon look good by comparison. Nixon passed environmental laws, expanded social welfare policies, understood sound international relations -- I mean, he was a twisted bastard but he didn't try to destroy the United States of America. He didn't try to destroy the US government and flush it down Grover Norquist's bathtub drain.

So many of us have worked ourselves to the burnout point over the past 5 years ... and yet we have years ahead of us to try to restore our country, our government, our Constitutional rights as American citizens ... all that and so much more.

God help us now.

11/2/04. My wife and I often recall the way we both felt that morning when we realized that it was over.

Now I've pinned so much hope on Fitzgerald. Only the rule of law can stop them now. I really need some evidence that we are still a country of laws, that the coup d'etat has not yet been finalized, and that even our "leaders" can still be held accountable.

There has been some discussions on the idea of Fitzmas somehow diminishing the importance of what's happening, but to me it means clouds parting, sun shining, flowers blooming and all that kinda stuff.

59. I've been a mess since '00. I have had my hopes dashed so many
times, I've lost count. I take it all with a grain of salt now. If it happens, cool! If it doesn't, well then, I am not disappointed. I expect the worse, but hope for the best. Yes, I am a mess.

61. Percogesic
http://www.drugs.com/percogesic.html

It works for the sleep problem. Don't plan on resting well..but everyone needs sleep. It's the best over the counter thing I've ever found for getting to sleep-no matter what. Beyond that..I'm with ya.

62. Do like I did.
Totally burn yourself out on it SO much that you just turn it all off for a while. Have a drink. Sleep as much as you should each night. Start playing cards again (King the Corner, anyone? Gin?), sit on the front porch, go camping.

Pet your dog a lot. Take walks. Look through a telescope at the stars. Lose yourself in a really meaty novel that has nothing to do with politics. Try a new cookie recipe.

Yeah, I can relate. But everyone has a point at which they have to step back and take a breath. Things will work out in the end, of that I am sure.
