Moran gone missing- it's about to hit the fan

Woke up this morning to a CBS story about a PMWF (pretty missing white female) in Maine named Lynn Moran. And then the latest homeland security fear- hidden cess pools in your yard.

How come I have only ONCE heard about a missing black female? How come I have NEVER heard about a missing hispanic female? How come I have NEVER heard anything about any missing males? They all get kidnapped too you know and in large numbers every day, but we focus on the suburban blondes who get kidnapped.

10. Despite whatever you think, missing people are not a joke.

Lynn Moran disappeared in the heart of the old port bar district in Portland Maine, less than a mile from where I live. This is the second such disappearance in less than 3 years. She is most likely dead. Its horrible to see her posters plastered everywhere around town. I'm sure when they find her body, if they ever do, there will be evidence of sexual assault. My fiancee used to work in the old port, and I would pick her up every day, simply because some weird bar guy had started calling her and saying creepy stuff. These stories get national coverage because we need reminding that this could happen to any of our female loved ones.
Maine is one of the safest places in the world. To have this happen twice here, in the same part of town is a severe shock to us. Unlike the colour of alert today, this is real news and is not funny.

It is incredable how the national media only picks up these stories about pretty white women gone missing, Zynx has it right. An they only seem to do it when it will fill up air time that could be used for more important stories, important to the nation. The Moran story is not national news.

the tilt of who gets coverage and who doesn't is not equitable in my opinion...with that said I feel terrible for any family with a missing person (obviously)
