Media won't admit Iraq war was made for Bush** election.
Until reporting of the real "why" the Rove-Bush** administration invaded Iraq, people will still believe it was for "Getting Saddam, Oil, terrorism", etc. That is big coverup and I am doubtful it will be stated after Fitzgerald closes up the investigation of the Plame case. Until this is understood by this country, it will happen again.

2. The timing stunk
I wouldn;t say politics was the only reason, but the timing of when they hyped up the build up was reprehensible and opportunistic.

There was absolutely no reason in terms of the so-called "goals" of the Iraq War for it to have been accelerated during an election season.

6. Bush on Democrats, 2002 elections and IWR vote 9/13/02
<snip>

"I can't imagine a elected member of the United States Senate or House of Representatives saying, 'I think I'm going to wait for the United Nations to make a decision.' It seems like to me if you're representing the United States, you ought to be making a decision on what is best for the United States.

"If I were running for office, I'm not sure how I would explain to the American people ... 'Vote for me and, by the way, on a matter of national security, I think I'm going to wait for somebody else to act,' " Bush said.

8. The final vote was on October 11, 2002; less than a month before elections
They used the fear of the American people to scare legislators into giving them war powers against an entity that had never attacked or aided any attacks against us.

Almost half of the Democratic Senators voted against it, while only one Republican did. Two thirds of the Democratic Representatives voted against it, while only a handful of Republicans did.

The timing was two-fold: use it as leverage to win the mid-term elections, and get the war over with quickly so Junior would be an unassailable hero for the '04 campaign. This was filthy and obvious.

4. Great observation
There were different reasons for different people promoting this war. But it is clear that Rove (and Bush) viewed it as a splendid opportunity to promote Republican candidacies in general and Bush in particular. When more people recognize this the little emperor will be even more despised.

5. It's the American way - Nixon did it
Edited on Wed Oct-26-05 09:13 AM by ramapo
Nixon manipulated the Vietnam War for his reelection campaign. There's even evidence he pulled shenanigans to influence the '68 election. The press never really called him on it.

7. Yea but they were more dupes then
In ways Nixon used and played more on innocents than bushco

Much of the *'s supporters claim to be innocents themselves (mostly they seem self deluded liars to me)

The Corporate MSM is in with * up to their eyeballs with Mr. Bush and everybody should hold them accountable. Anybody that knowingly gives false reports that lead to deaths and other destructive ramifications is an accessory to a crime by law.

9. have to disagree with you a bit
PNAC was scheming to invade Iraq for a LONG time. At least since the Clinton admin. Probably before.

10. Based on that planning, they were ready and used it for the election.
They could have done it for other reasons, yes. But at that time it was used to get the flags out and for support of our "commander in chief".
