1. I love Dolly too!
She has a new album out that is entirely covers of classic peace and protest songs! Dolly is just wonderful. :)

4. Looks like I have a new CD to buy
I haven't been in a buying mood for a long time but Dolly's new CD sounds like a must. What is the name of it?

8. Feel the same.
I've been strictly using iTunes. But I think I'll actually buy this CD...after seeing Dolly on The Daily Show and being totally charmed.

6. I don't usually watch.
In fact, I rarely watch tv. Just happened to be on.I'm glad I got to see it though. Dolly did a great job. Every now and then there is a worthwhile nugget on the boob toob.

Jeez, I guess I didn't think about that. LoL. A grade school friends' mother used to call tv the boob tube back in the 70s.

3. I'm surprised that she'd sing the "no religion, too" line.
I like Dolly a lot, but I just figured she was probably quite religious.

My father met her a few times through his work and said she was the nicest person ever.

13. What gives me hope =
My dad was a rabid right winger. Typical uptight white establishment male chauvinist, etc. He loved Dolly. In fact we played "I Will Always Love You" at his funeral service. I guess the fact that he loved Dolly goes to show he wasn't totally screwed up. He was also quite racist. Ironically, the navy bugler at his funeral(played taps) was black. I loved it.

5. Like this???
Imagine there's no Bushit,
It's easy if you try,
No Cheney below us (in his underground undisclosed location),
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
free at last to say, "YOU-HOO's going down..."

Imagine there's no Iraqnam,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No Halliburton too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

12. She did it on the Today show awhile ago...
I did not like it at all. Sorry folks, but it just didn't do it for me. I have heard various versions, and I am not a "don't do covers", because I think everyone has covered something at some time, but for me Imagine IS and always will be Lennon, and for that particular song, there can be no other.
Just my 2 cents

14. That's ok
I enjoyed it. What made it really enjoyable is that many of her fans are wingers, so they get to hear this song in a different way.

16. of course it will always B
John Lennon's song. U cannot hear that song w/o his voice and face popping up in your mind's eye. I think of someone 'covering' it, as more of a tribute 2 Lennon and the powerful words he put to music. That song truly belongs 2 all who R touched by it.

15. I have an mp3 of her covering...
Stairway to Heaven. I quite like it. In fact, I have several covers of Stairway to Heaven that I prefer over the original - like the one that substitutes the Gilligan Island theme song words or the one done by Rolf Harris of "Tie Me Kangaroo Down" fame.

17. Stairway to Heaven?
I would love to have a copy of that. Do you know if it is on any of her albums/CDs? That song(even though it has been redone almost to the point of triteness) is one of my favorites.
