1,100 unidentified bodies still in Louisiana morgue.

My niece (a psychiatric nurse practitioner) is spending two weeks as a volunteer working in a FEMA camp in Baton Rouge -- I believe it is called Camp Phoenix. They have set her to work on the phones, dealing with and counselling people who are trying to find missing relatives and friends with the hope of linking them up with the 1,100 bodies in the morgue that are still unidentified.

Some of the bodies are so decayed that it is impossible to even determine the person's race.

This leads me to believe that the body count is higher than the authorities have let on.
