Rawstory: Prosecutor in leak case seeks indictments against Rove, Libby
Edited on Wed Oct-26-05 11:57 AM by FLDem5
http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Prosecutor_in_leak_case_seeks_indictments_1026.html
<snip?

THE BEST PART!!!
<snip>
Fitzgerald has also asked the jury to indict Libby on a second charge: knowingly outing a covert operative, the lawyers said. They said the prosecutor believes that Libby violated a 1982 law that made it illegal to unmask an undercover CIA agent.

Other good stuff:
<snip>
Two other officials, who are not employees in the White House, are also expected to face indictments, the lawyers said

ON EDIT: Can we please not turn this into a RawStory bashing thread.

1. Why would Libby's atty leak this?
I'm positive it's not coming from the Fitz group. If they had said Rove's atty leaked the story about Libby, that would make sense, but why Libby's own lawyer? Hmmmm

2. I don't know who leaked it -
I just like what it says! Someone is getting charged with leaking Valerie Plame Wilson's name. That is what I had hoped for - people have to see that this is WRONG in the worst way - the rest is gravy.

7. The lawyer would be aware of warning letters.
Although claims have been made several times about the release of warning letters, there was another one today saying that the targets had recieved letters sent on last Friday.

21. i agree
the idea that Rawstory knows exactly what they are going to be charged with is hard to believe. their sources are defense attorneys, just like yesterday. I wouldn't say this is really groundbreaking.

23. Yeah - only the prosecutor and his/her staff
is allowed in front of a grand jury. There's no defense attorneys until the preliminary hearing and/or trial.

It's just the prosecutor and the grand jury (and the judge and assorted court officers). No defense attorneys are allowed. Period.

13. I don't think it was any member of the GJ. If they were going to
leak anything, they would have done it before.

All the officers of the court work for Fitz. I heard he told them all, in no uncertain terms, to KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!

11. 3:2 odds on Luskin
It has his fingerprints all over it and he's very candid and talkative in the article...he'd know if Rove had received a target letter, Rove's plans and you can be sure that Libby's Atty and Luskin have spoken to coordinate a response to indictments.

In short, he'd know everything in this article. I'll be shocked if it's not Luskin.

10. I would scream for joy if I knew this was true.
However, given that no one (apart from the people in that GJ room) knows anything right now, I'll stay guardedly optimistic.

14. Guess that explains KBH on Meet the Press last Sunday
Edited on Wed Oct-26-05 11:39 AM by Strawman
Saying she hoped the prosecutor didn't waste time trying to trip up someone on a perjury charge. That someone was Rove and they were in full spin mode "getting out in front of the story." Clinton got off when he committed perjury so why go after Rove. Muddy the waters, make this seem like politics as usual to the public.

Will they get away with it again? Maybe, but eventually that stops working. When your kid is dead because he got sent to a war the the President lied to everyone about, and your wages have been cut in half because of the greed of the people the Republican party represents, and your mother is living in poverty because she can't aford her medical treatment and prescriptions, that spin bullshit stops working.

17. I like that they interviewed the Wilson neighbors at the last minute
to add meat to their case. So hopefully - this will put an end to the "she wasn't covert" meme.

have been lacking.

I'll wait for the real thing.

22. you're right
yesterday, rawstory said that the indictments would only be perjury, obstruction, and conspiracy. now they're saying that libby is actually going to be charged with the IIPA? this report contradicts their previous reporting.
