AP: Grand Jury in CIA Leak Case Adjourns
WASHINGTON -- The federal grand jury investigating the leak of a CIA officer's identity met for three hours Wednesday with Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald and adjourned for the day without announcing any action.

Fitzgerald is known to be putting the finishing touches on a two-year criminal probe that has ensnared two senior White House aides.

After the grand jury left for the day, federal prosecutors conferred for about an hour in the grand jury area of the federal courthouse.

There was no word on whether Fitzgerald planned to make any announcement or whether the grand jury planned to meet again.

1. That means if indictments are coming
we'll know by Friday, I hope. I can't believe this whole thing will end with a whimper and not a roar. Fitzgerald has HAD to have found enough for indictments.

7. No, it does not
All it means is that the grand jury met today for a few hours, and then adjourned.

There is no inference that can be drawn from that. They meet every Wednesday and Friday.

No one knows anything. Keep that in mind. It's entirely possible that there will be no indictments.

At this point, no one knows anything.

2. They met for an hour afterwards?
What options do you suppose they needed to consider? Is this bad?

9. It's meaningless
It means they met, as they have done twice a week for the past two years.

It means nothing.

Relax. Easy does it. No one knows anything.

Just keep that in mind.

No one knows anything.

12. I know, kid. I know.
I've spent 30 years waiting for juries to come back. It never gets any easier, and there's absolutely no way to know what they'll do.

So, for now, try to keep breathing deeply, and just enjoy life.

Here. Something to make you smile:

17. We have a bet
If a) there are no indictments OR b) only two indictments for perjury and obstruction for Scooter, then Walt Starr has to use the following sig line for a month:

"I got Punk'd by alcibiades_mystery."

If there are any more than that, I have to use the following sign line for a month:

"I got Punk'd by Walt Starr."

At this point, I want to reassure Walt Starr that I'll be gentle...

They finished their business, that's all.

8. Miller and Rove: "It's Libby." Libby: "It's Cheney."
So, that's clear.

Now, who's Cheney gonna pass the ball to?

http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/10/26/cia.leak/index.html

"New York Times reporter Judith Miller spent 85 days in jail for contempt before finally agreeing last month to tell grand jurors that Libby told her Wilson's wife may have worked at the CIA, although she said Libby did not identify Plame by name or describe her as a covert agent or operative.

Rove has testified before the Fitzgerald grand jury that he believes it was I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, who first told him that Plame worked for the CIA and had a role in sending her husband to Africa, according to a source familiar with Rove's testimony.

The New York Times reported Tuesday that notes in Fitzgerald's possession suggest that Libby first heard of the CIA officer from Cheney himself. (Full story)"

20. Is he waiting for or dealing with last minute conversions?
I would think he'd want to give the accused as much time as possible to come forward and tell their stories -- before he has to drag it out of them while burying them.

There could be some back door negotiations.

But, come Friday, he'd be smart to say: "Too late, suckka!" "See ya's at the press conference."

I say Friday's gonna be Fitzmas day.
