Just make sure that every sex-offender at all time is wearing a bright yellow star attached to their clothes on the left side. It has to be worn visible at all time. Any similarities with what the jews had to wear in Germany in the 1930's is totally coincidental and not intended.

Since sex-offenders are not much of a treath to me, I suggest we add some other classes to the same, let car thieves (I don't want my car stolen!) wear a bright red car symbol on their clothes and they should not be allowed to live closer than 2500 feet to any car. I really don't care for people who are known to shoot and kill people either, so when their sentence has been served, they should wear a bright orange gun on their clothes and should not be able to live within 2500 feet of any guns or knives. And people who swindle and embezzle money should wear a bright green dollar sign on their clothes and not be able to live closer than 2500 feet to any money.

USA is turning into a fascistic regime that single out certain classes of the population as lesser citizens with lesser rights and protections than other classes, just like the jews were treated in nazi Germany.

I feel sick every time I hear all the stupid people on TV with their "Think about the children" slogan. If you are so concerned about your kids, maybe YOU should do something to protect your kids rather than create the new jews?

Land of the free? Maybe, but only if you belong to the "right" class, else your fucked!

felt that the Jews were a treath to the Arian race as they called themselves.

They are basically treated the same way as the hews were initally. They had to live in special areas, were not allowed to use certain stores, cafes, services etc, much like blacks in this country a few decades ago. Maybe you could also say that sex offenders are the new "blacks"?

They expose themselves in the park. They hire a prostititute. They have sex with another consenting adult in public. They have sex with a girl 2 or 3 years younger then them (just not old enough for "adult sex". . .and they rape and molest.

The problem is that a "SEX OFFENDER" is such a broad category that you don't know how evil your neighborhood pervert really is.

You don't know that the map of offenders in your neighborhood is identifying a guy busted in a vice sting or a serial rapist, or a pedophile. You don't know if the sex offender is a gal busted for flashing her boobies at a pseudo mardi gras celebration or for a 40 year old arrested at 15 for experiementing with his 13 year old neighbor because one on the LIST you are there forever and it is not graded for level of offense.

Even though the original poster fell off the deep end into exaggeration, so does anyone who believes that TAGGING sex offenders by mapping their address and flagging them for public shunning is going to work.

The conclusion of the original poster is right--protect your kids, educate your kids, and hope for the best.

Theres a local case here where a man was tried for a sex crime he committed 20 yrs ago. If it were true, why didnt the lady accuse him 20 yrs ago?

In our local area, a law was passed which prevents a registered sex offender from living within 2000 feet of a school or daycare. In effect, they were driven out of our city of 250,000--because areas without a school or daycare are nonexistent.

I'm so sick and tired of people positioning sex offenders as monsters who are lurking out there somewhere.

One out of four females, and one out of seven males is sexually abused before the age of 18. These are astronomical numbers. It's an epidemic. HOWEVER, 90 PERCENT OF SEXUAL ABUSE VICTIMS ARE VICTIMIZED BY SOMEONE THEY KNOW VERY WELL--USUALLY AN IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBER--LIKE A FATHER, STEPFATHER, GRANDFATHER, UNCLE, ETC.

Sorry folks, but the monsters are INSIDE THE HOUSES! They're the accountants, the tax attorneys, the machinists, the teachers and the police officers who live in YOUR BLOCK, and possibly in YOUR OWN HOUSE.

No one--NO ONE--wants to deal with the reality of child sexual abuse.

So we pretend that we care, and that we're doing something. We make believe that the monster is lurking in the parks or scouting the elementary schools for victims. It's a lie. It RARELY happens.

I've met hundreds of survivors of sexual abuse through my work in volunteer support networks that help survivors. I have NEVER, EVER met a survivor of sexual abuse who was victimized by a stranger, or abducted by someone she had never met. The vast majority were sexually abused by their own fathers.

America will not come to grips with this ugly reality. America is in denial. As we remain in denial, more children will go to sleep tonight--in every city in America--and they will not be safe in their own bedrooms---because everyone is too busy enacting frivolous, useless laws that forbid phantom sex offenders from living near a school.

These laws don't protect the vast majority of sexual abuse victims who - - RIGHT NOW - - desperately need safety, security and protections from their perpetrators.

PS--Edited to add. My perpetrators were my father and his best friend--a police officer. They molested me for years and took photographs of the abuse. I reported the abuse this year. Last month, the federal agent I reported the crime to, informed me that he spoke with the police department that employed my perpetrator. That police department said they would do nothing about these crimes because there was no proof. Although I didn't expect indictments, I did expect that they would "look into these allegations." It took every ounce of courage I had, to report these crimes. I was told that when and if this police officer molested again--that they would call me in. Nice huh? You want to do something to help and protect victims of sexual abuse???? You could start by fixing a system that is most obviously shattered, in several places.
