Jane Hamsher: "a lot of people are going to get nailed."
Edited on Wed Oct-26-05 03:57 PM by understandinglife
Just got off the phone with a source who has appeared before Fitzgerald's grand jury who thinks that the Special Counsel is going to "go wide" with indictments -- i.e., a lot of people are going to get nailed.

<clip>

The bottom line in all this is that at this point, I think nobody knows what's going to happen, so take all predictions with a grain of salt, even this one. I hate to throw cold water on everyone's expectations for tomorrow, but even amidst the hearty speculation we like to engage in around here we also like to ground things in reality. And the reality is if Fitzgerald is still pursuing an investigation, he's probably going to want some time to use that info in his "come to Jesus" talks with the perps.

2. It's what Sibel Edmonds has been saying for sometime.
I wonder if there's going to be overlap?

19. Sibel Edmonds
I've heard a lot of people mention her, but I'm not sure about exactly what she was saying about the State Dept., or how it connects with this case. Is there a good article anyone can suggest that lays this all out? Thanks!

7. I'm convinced (at least at this instant) that Fitz will extend the grand
jury, because he has IMO not found the end of the trail of crimes that he started on with the Plame leak. No way.

And he doesn't seem to be the kind of guy to say, Well, there's more, but I need a break.

13. And the trail sure is a long one
If average citizens with google and the likes at their desks can learn details like those that get passed around and discussed on places like DU, then surely someone as smart as Fitzgerald and his crew can connect the dots. It will be very interesting to see where this all leads---to what extent he takes this. I hope that he takes it to the extreme.

14. It seems that his MO is "rule of law". And that he is rigorous and
thorough. I'm guessing that he won't leave stones unturned.

9. Scroll to "firedoglake" at this link and read (extends to page 3):
http://www.observer.com/pageone_ronrosenbaum-2.asp

It's a fun read about a quite impressive site. "ReddHedd" who also posts at firedoglake is a former prosecutor and has posted some really insightful stuff on treasongate.

Peace.

18. I think one of your links sometime ago led me to firedoglake. It's a great
site! And I love Hamsher's writing. For example:

Quoting from WS Journal:

Mr. Sulzberger and New York Times Executive Editor Bill Keller both indicated they wished they had known more about the circumstances that led Ms. Miller to go to jail rather than reveal who told her the identity of CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson.

Hamsher writes:

Which is why it strikes us as odd that they never bothered to ask. I mean, how hard could it have been to roll over and say "hey baby, as long as you're up can you grab me a piece of pie, and by the way that WMD stuff...was it all just bullshit?"

10. I don't know how much faith I'd put in rawstory,
And maybe this has been commented on.
www.rawstory.com

They are reporting that Fitz has indeed asked for indictments for Rove, Libby and "two others". Also that there was some attempt at a plea deal with Rove that broke down last night.

I do not have an opinion one way or the other about rawstory. It is an interesting story they have though.

Personally, I'll believe it when I see it.
