Miers made pro-abortion comments - was that before she was born again?
MSNBC has a story which quotes some very strong pro-choice statements from Meirs.

They say senators are perplexed. If these comments were made before she was "born-again", they are perfectly understandable.

Does anyone know when Meirs "second birthday" was? Those born OK the first time would like to know.

1. If
in fact her political views changed because of her religion, then she is unqualified for the job.

The Bible doesn't mention the US Constitution.

Hey Bush, remember all those "Flip-flopper" attacks on Kerry? Maybe a mirror would do you good. Especially should you choose to withdraw this nomination.

3. The article says she made these statements
after endorsing the constitutional amendment to ban abortion. This should further rankle shrub's base, which will at least be fun to watch.

Christians will NOT count it against her.

They believe that a person is given a "new heart" (not the kind Cheney needs) when they become "born again". Their sacred writings say "old things are passed away; behold all things become new".

Christians are widely known to tell stories of how they were wicked before the "met Jesus" and how they are a new person now that they are born again.

Whatever Meirs said BEFORE she was born again is irrelevant to Christians. They do not see a continuity of self-hood and identity through the new birth process. That is why they call it being born again.

9. Nice post and fairly accurate.
ALthough I am not sure the Fundies will let her get off scot free on this.

THe reason is: RW fundies are more concerned about their own cultural relevance as expressed throuch the ballot boz and boycotss then they are with individual salvation experiences.
