Bernie Ward (KGO - Lib Talk Show Host) tells the scoop on Tweety
Edited on Wed Oct-26-05 05:50 PM by caledesi
and Keith Obermann.

The other night Bernie was talking about how the media is totally controlled by corporations and cited the following:

He was at a cocktail party where he got talking w/ Chris Matthews and Tweety told him that basically he was "called in" (at one point during the past few years) saying he was being too liberal and told him if he didn't "clean up his act," Hardball would be history.

Then Bernie said that after Keith O had a liberal on his show for 2 nights, he was called in and told the same thing.

He also mentioned how they fired Phil Donahue even though he show was highly rated because he wasn't towing the line.

These thugs make me sick. :puke:

Buck up or lose your job.

edit: usual stuff

2. Break-up the media oligopoly
Congress must force Big Media to sell-off media properties to smaller firms. Break the whole thing up!

3. I guess at this point, Tweety doesn't give a sh*t, because he
has been really good lately.

6. And Keith stood his ground.

11. Monica Crowley whimpered and moaned over this.
Her show with Ron Reagan, "Connected: Coast to Coast" premiered as part of the MSNBC evening lineup.

Then it got moved to 12 noon Eastern (9:00 Pacific).

She was on Imus and saying how excited she was over the new time slot and Imus replied "ARE YOU KIDDING? No one's WATCHING at that time of day."

Then she said the show got moved as part of an effort to aggressively market "Hardball" to "Red State viewers."

So that, combined with the Bernie Ward anecdote, seems pretty consistent.

12. I believe it. I guess that means we can't let any Dem
promise to break up the media monopoly than huh?

We're just going to have to get them elected and THEN demand it be done!!!!

14. I love Bernie Ward, and Ray too
There was a time when a story like that would have surprised me, but no longer. Thanks for posting this. People like Bernie and Ray Taliafero keep me going during tough times.
