JEB: Blame ME, not FEMA for slow hurricane aid
Edited on Wed Oct-26-05 06:28 PM by Bluebear

Jeb displayed that famous Bush temper this afternoon; when a reporter asked him about thousands of people still waiting for relief, he replied he is setting up a "NO CRITICISM" zone. (How American)

MIAMI - Gov. Jeb Bush took the blame Wednesday for frustrating delays at centers distributing supplies to victims of Hurricane Wilma, saying criticism of the Federal Emergency Management Agency was misdirected. "Don't blame FEMA. This is our responsibility," Bush said at a news conference in Tallahassee with federal Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, who oversees the agency....

"People had ample time to prepare. It isn't that hard to get 72 hours worth of food and water," said Bush, repeating the advice that officials had given days before Wilma hit.

Among the first in line Wednesday at Miami's Orange Bowl distribution site was Josephina Diaz, who said she arrived at 6 a.m. "I don't have a choice," she said. "I have medicine and food I can't allow to spoil."

Police watched over the few gas stations that were open as a precaution in case motorists' tempers flared while they waited for up to five hours to buy fuel.

"This is like the Third World," said Claudia Shaw, who spent several hours in a gas line. "We live in a state where we suffer from these storms every year. Where is the planning?"

4. There's motive behind their sudden responsibility act. And it certainly
has nothing to do with altruism.

8. Okay Jeb. Resign the governorship.
If you're a big screw up you have no place being governor.

9. taking or not the blame won't help him or * at the end of the day...let's
see:

1. Taking the blame, B didn't do anything wrong, but the local admin = J and the local GOP get hit at home and consequences may ripple to 06 elections.

2. Not taking the blame = J, local and national GOP, and FEMA/* get hit and consequences may ripple to 06 elections.

makes no sense for him to do either one...besides poppy forcing him...Maybe

13. Pay no attention to the agency behind the curtain!
I so cannot wait for the governor's race. For once, I'm actually glad I live in this state. Getting rid of him will be the most fun I've had at the ballot in a long time.
