5. I attended one in Cleveland.....
Only about 30 people showed up. Apparently, the organizer said there was miscommunication with MoveOn regarding the time. It was nice though.

7. A very nice candlelight vigil in Anchorage.
About 70 people showed up. We know we've arrived because we actually had a COUNTER-protester this time, carrying a sign saying "Al-Caida Fan Club" (pointed in our direction) on one side and something about "war stopped Hitler" or some such on the back. He was on the opposite side of the street and kept singing Kumbaya off key. What a moran! Our local NBC affiliate showed up with camera and microphone, so we may make the news again. They've been real good about covering peace activities here.

Another vigil (apolitical) is planned for Sunday in honor of the soldiers and their families.

10. San Diego
Horton Plaza

We had over 200 people, and according to Channel 9 it took five + hours to read the names. I had to leave to catch a trolley

It went very well... kudos to San Diego PD... for doing an outstanding job with the disruptor (who got a drunk in public ticket) and the sole counter protestor who was allowed in, and marched across with their escort, in silence.

Mister Del Solar was here too, and he broke down, of course. But the most touching moment was the young lady who read the names and broke down as the ages hit her... besdies her was her three year old who she said she'll do all to avoid him going over there.

We do this to bring the troops home, but also to keep that three year old from going

11. Hi, Friend!
As you know, I protest every Wednesday night with Code Pink OC and tonight was absolutely fabulous! We are at the historical Orange Plaza and we had about 80 people show up. Almost as many as we had for the Cindy vigil. A lot of new people promised to come every week. One interesting guest was Steve Young who is running for CA-48, Cox's open seat. He is very confident he will win as the others may split the vote. We can only hope.

KTUU, our local NBC affiliate, provided great coverage of this event. The lead story on the 10:00 news was the 2,000 dead soldiers and peace vigils around the country, with special emphasis on the one here in town.

This is a link to the narrative...the video is linked up in the corner and is well worth watching. Dan Fiorucci, you rock...

I am so proud of Channel 2 for covering these events so even-handedly.

13. I think we had about 150 people in Studio City- I met a Duer

I met Huskerlaw who just moved to LA a few weeks ago. She will fit in well here! :hi:

This location has vigils every friday night...they are loud and rowdy. This vigil was solemn and basically quiet. We had cars honking in support and of course, the young male assholes who have to yell "Go Bush" or some other words of wisdom at us.

Why is it always young males who do this? If they support the war why aren't they in Iraq putting their lives on the line?
