by Arthur Schlesinger Jr. saying it was probably good for the Dems they didn't win the presidency because the blame would have been blame of the Iraq mess would've shifted from Bush to the Dems. It was a really good article actually, better than i'm explaining it. It's a shame you have to look in Playboy if you wanna read an article by Schlesinger...

|
Calling Hillary Clinton a "feminazi lesbian" is slime.
Calling * a liar is truth.
emulatorloo ... I'm not trying to pick on you. :-) I'm not even picking on Kerry specifically. This is a common problem with the Dems.
I don't understand ... why do we have to "soften" the truth in order to raise the level of public discourse? When did telling the truth become "dirty politics" or something that needed to be made more palatable?

46. I agree ... that's my point. |
|
Why is it that telling the truth is equated to the GOP slime machine?
Why do the Dems feel like they have to use words like "misled" instead of "lied" - why must they soften the blow every time?
The truth is the truth and there's no shame in speaking it, nor is it slimy.
I don't get it. Who gave the Dems the idea that speaking the truth was somehow a bad thing?

47. When I hear a politician call another politician a "Liar" I tune out |
|
It makes me doubt the person who is saying it. I don't think I am the only one either -- to me it feels like the last resort of a scoundrel. Maybe because in my personal experience, those who call others "Liars" are usually liars themselves.
OTOH I don't get the same feeling if someone says "X is not telling the truth."

I want to hear them say the word "liar" because I KNOW it's true ... but the average person who doesn't read DU or other boards/blogs has no idea what's true and what isn't. I guess strong language could turn them off. It's just so frustrating to watch the Dems play nice while the Repugs keep beating up on them, you know what I mean? :-)
