A question ... does Mr. X really exist? |
|
Edited on Wed Oct-26-05 10:01 PM by BattyDem
I posted this question in another thread, but didn't get a response, so I figured I'd post it on its own.
So ... is there definitely a Mr. X? When it first came up, I figured it was just a lame diversion to save their sorry asses. But do we now know for sure that he exists?
Sorry for my ignorance.

3. Where did you hear about that? |
|
I do think that it may be a reference to a videogame, but that's just me.

7. It's been discussed on DU and on Air America ... |
|
but it's all purely speculation. I'm not sure where the original story came from.
Sorry, I can't post any links to DU threads about it because the search function is suspended due to high traffic. :-(

4. Cold War had a Mr. X too. |
|
(1947)Mr. "X" was the author of an article printed in Foreign Affairs called "The Sources of Soviet Conduct." Mr. "X" -- later revealed to be George F. Kennan, director of the State Department's Policy Planning Staff -- defined the policy of containment that the United States should employ towards Soviet expansion.
I bet a lot of historians won't like this new Mr. X because the first one formed Truman's policy on the Soviets. Who knows.

6. I don't know exactly where it is coming from |
|
but speculation on the Big Eddy show led to Bolton. Congress was willing to vote up or down on him if they were given the papers that were requested. They were not provided and Bolton was appointed while everyone was on vacation.
